Sharp inequalities for the Neuman-Sandor mean in terms of arithmetic and contra-harmonic means [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2012
In this paper, we find the greatest values $\alpha$ and $\lambda$, and the least values $\beta$ and $\mu$ such that the double inequalities $$C^{\alpha}(a,b)A^{1-\alpha}(a,b)

Pharmacokinetic Prediction and Cytotoxicity of New Quercetin Derivatives

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Quercetin (QUE) possesses various pharmacological properties; however, its low bioavailability and solubility hinder its beneficial effects. Enzymatic glycosylation has been explored to improve these aspects. In the present study, we used a sucrose phosphorylase variant to catalyze the regioselective transglucosylation of QUE, predicted the ...

Long Arithmetic Progressions in Sets with Small Sumset [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2009
Let $A, B\subseteq \mathbb{Z}$ be finite, nonempty subsets with $\min A=\min B=0$, and let $$\delta(A,B)={\begin{array}{ll} 1 & \hbox{if} A\subseteq B, 0 & \hbox{otherwise.} If $\max B\leq \max A\leq |A|+|B|-3$ and \label{one}|A+B|\leq |A|+2|B|-3-\delta(A,B), then we show $A+B$ contains an arithmetic progression with difference 1 and length $|A|+|

Ethnomedicinal Uses, Phytochemistry, Pharmacological Activities, and Toxicology of the Subfamily Gomphrenoideae (Amaranthaceae): A Comprehensive Review

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The subfamily Gomphrenoideae is composed of about 480 accepted species, many of which have been historically used as medicinal plants, reason why they have been studied in terms of chemical profile, biological activity, and safety. This review consolidates the advances in research on this subfamily over the past 47 years, emphasizing its ...

Using single-dose liposomal amphotericin B for cryptococcal meningitis induction therapy: nurse pearls and practical perspectives [version 1; peer review: 2 approved]

open access: yesWellcome Open Research
Background In Uganda where the burden of HIV-associated cryptococcal meningitis is high, conventional amphotericin B deoxycholate has been standard to manage patients with cryptococcal meningitis in research settings.

Property (gw) for tensor product and left-right multiplication operators [PDF]

open access: yesActa Sci. Math. (Szeged) 78 (3-4) (2012), 589-607, 2014
Given Banach spaces $X$ and $Y$ and operators $A\in B(X)$ and $B\in B(Y)$, property $(gw)$ does not in general transfer from $A$ and $B$ to the tensor product operator $A\otimes B\in B(X\overline{\otimes} Y)$ or to the elementary operator defined by $A$ and $B$, $\tau_{AB}=L_AR_B\in B(B(Y,X))$.

Artificial Lipidation of Antifungal Proteins and Antifungal Behavior: A Case Study with Cholesterylation

open access: yesChemBioChem, EarlyView.
The antifungal behavior of artificial palmitoylated or cholesterylated chitinase domain is studied from biological, chemical, and physical properties, highlighting the importance of the chemical properties of the lipid moiety covalently attached to chitinase domain to obtain effective antifungal activity by artificial protein lipidation through a ...

Density is at most the spread of the square [PDF]

open access: yesarXiv, 2007
We show the following result: Assume B is an infinite Boolean Algebra and lambda=d(B). Then s(B*B)$, i.e. s(uf(B)xuf(B))>= lambda$ (if lambda limit - obtained)

Covalent Peptide‐Graphene Conjugates for Enhanced Cell Spreading, Osteogenic Differentiation, and Angiogenesis in Bone Defects

open access: yesChemBioChem, EarlyView.
The three peptides RGD, DGEA, and KKGHK are covalently attached to the 2D nanomaterial graphene oxide (GO) to create new biomaterials for the treatment of severe bone injuries. These GO modifications improve cell spreading, stem cell differentiation into bone cell types, and formation of blood vessel‐like structures.
