Amplicon-based metagenomic analysis of mixed fungal samples using proton release amplicon sequencing. [PDF]
Next generation sequencing technology has revolutionised microbiology by allowing concurrent analysis of whole microbial communities. Here we developed and verified similar methods for the analysis of fungal communities using a proton release sequencing ...

The 16S rRNA amplicon sequencing technique is a microbiome analysis where different samples are analyzed at the same time using multiplexing. The results can be used to evaluate microbial diversity at genus, family, order, class, and phylum levels.

Dissecting Disease-Suppressive Rhizosphere Microbiomes by Functional Amplicon Sequencing and 10x Metagenomics [PDF]
Disease-suppressive soils protect plants against soilborne fungal pathogens that would otherwise cause root infections. Soil suppressiveness is, in most cases, mediated by the antagonistic activity of the microbial community associated with the plant ...

FAL1 ing inside an Amplicon [PDF]
Frequently amplified regions of the cancer genome contain well-known oncogenes. In this issue of Cancer Cell, Hu and colleagues discover that FAL1, a long noncoding RNA is encoded in one of these regions. FAL1 acts as an oncogene by stabilizing BMI1, which results in the repression of CDKN1A expression.

Long-read amplicon denoising [PDF]
Abstract Long-read next-generation amplicon sequencing shows promise for studying complete genes or genomes from complex and diverse populations. Current long-read sequencing technologies have challenging error profiles, hindering data processing and incorporation into downstream analyses.

The origin and evolution of human ampliconic gene families and ampliconic structure [PDF]
Out of the nine male-specific gene families in the human Y chromosome amplicons, we investigate the origin and evolution of seven families for which gametologous and orthologous sequences are available. Proto-X/Y gene pairs in the original mammalian sex chromosomes played major roles in origins and gave rise to five gene families: XKRY, VCY, HSFY, RBMY,

IntroductionBiological soil crusts (biocrusts) are known as biological hotspots on undisturbed, nutrient-poor bare soil surfaces and until now, are mostly observed in (semi-) arid regions but are currently poorly understood in agricultural systems.
