We investigated glucokinase from the psychrophilic Pseudoalteromonas sp. AS‐131 (PsGK), which was isolated from the Antarctic Ocean. Biochemical studies revealed that PsGK is a cold‐adapted enzyme with high thermal stability, in contrast to general cold‐adapted enzymes, which have low thermal stability.

It is speculated that the onset of obesity‐related diseases follows the sequence of obesity → SLD → MetS‐related diseases. In this study, the contribution of SLD to each MetS‐related disease was large for T2D and hypertension and SLD contributed to the onset and new onset of the disease by the 7‐year follow‐up.

Abstract A 61‐year‐old man visited our hospital with a sudden onset of polydipsia and polyuria occurring 5 days prior, accompanied by a 5‐kg weight loss. A month prior, his glycated hemoglobin level was 6.2%. Precisely 8 days before the first visit, he had a fever, and hyperglycemic symptoms began shortly thereafter.
