Amylase

British Journal of Hospital Medicine, 2009
The amylases are a group of enzymes responsible for the breakdown of starches into sugars. The important amylase in animals is α-amylase (EC3.2.1.1 – alternate names 1,4-α-D-glucan glucanohydrolase, or glycogenase) which is a calcium metalloenzyme that acts at random locations along a starch molecule hydrolyzing α-1,4 links to ultimately yield mono ...

Amylase Zymography

2017
Amylase zymography was carried out for the detection of amylases produced by a Geobacillus stearothermophilus strain isolated from the Thermal Center "Las Trincheras" in Venezuela. Zymography is an electrophoretic technique used to study hydrolases by means of thin gels containing copolymerized-specific substrates, under nonreducing conditions. In this

Antidiabetic properties of dietary phenolic compounds: Inhibition effects on α‐amylase, aldose reductase, and α‐glycosidase

Biotechnology and applied biochemistry, 2019
Aldose reductase (AR), α‐amylase, and α‐glycosidase are vital enzymes to prevent diabetic complications. Here, AR was purified from sheep kidney using elementary methods with 111.11‐purification fold and with 0.85% purification yield.

[Amylase].

Rinsho byori. The Japanese journal of clinical pathology, 2002
alpha-Amylase in human serum consists of at least two isozymes originating from either the pancreas or salivary glands. These isozymes can be determined by three methods, electrophoresis, inhibitor method and antibody method. The committee on enzymes of the International Federation of Clinical Chemistry recommended the approved method for the catalytic

Amniotic fluid amylase

American Journal of Obstetrics and Gynecology, 1973
The concentration of amylase in amniotic fluid during the last half of pregnancy was studied. Single determinations were done in 180 patients and serial determinations in 7 patients. The results have been correlated with gestational age and fetal weight.
