Expression levels in Ana2-Myc cell lines from Two-step phosphorylation of Ana2 by Plk4 is required for the sequential loading of Ana2 and Sas6 to initiate procentriole formation

open access: yes, 2017
Supplementary Figure S4: Expression levels in Ana2-Myc cell lines: An immuno-blot showing comparable levels of expression between an Ana2-WT-Myc and an Ana2-S38A-Myc cell line. The same three cell lines are presented as in Fig. 6B: Untransfected D.Mel-2 cells (lane 1), pAct5-Ana2-WT-Myc (lane 2) and pAct5-Ana2-S38A-Myc (lane 3).

Differential regulation of transition zone and centriole proteins contributes to ciliary base diversity

open access: yesNature Cell Biology, 2018
Cilia are evolutionarily conserved structures with many sensory and motility-related functions. The ciliary base, composed of the basal body and the transition zone, is critical for cilia assembly and function, but its contribution to cilia diversity ...

GST-Ana2-S38A can bind Sas6 after Plk4 phosphorylation from Two-step phosphorylation of Ana2 by Plk4 is required for the sequential loading of Ana2 and Sas6 to initiate procentriole formation

open access: yes, 2017
Supplementary Figure S3: GST-Ana2-S38A can bind Sas6 after Plk4 phosphorylation. Sas6 specifically interacts with both Ana2-WT and Ana2-S38A when the proteins are pre-phosphorylated by Plk4. GST, GST-tagged wild-type (GST-Ana2-WT) or the S38A substitution mutant (GST-Ana2-S38A) were treated with either MBP-Plk4 or MBP-Plk4KD and incubated in vitro with

Development and Psychometric Validation of a Questionnaire to Assess Attitudes Toward Medical Law Reasoning (MLRAQ)

open access: yesInternational Journal of Clinical Practice, Volume 2025, Issue 1, 2025.
Background Attitude toward medical law reasoning is the first step in improving medical law reasoning skills in physicians. Despite its importance, no validated instrument currently exists to assess it. This study aimed to develop and validate a Medical Law Reasoning Attitude Questionnaire (MLRAQ) in medical students.

A homeostatic clock sets daughter centriole size in flies

open access: yesJournal of Cell Biology, 2018
Centrioles are highly structured organelles whose size is remarkably consistent within any given cell type. New centrioles are born when Polo-like kinase 4 (Plk4) recruits Ana2/STIL and Sas-6 to the side of an existing “mother” centriole.

Extended Bis(anthraoxa)quinodimethanes with Nine and Ten Consecutively Fused Six-Membered Rings: Neutral Diradicaloids and Charged Diradical Dianions/Dications.

open access: yesJournal of the American Chemical Society, 2018
We report the challenging synthesis of two very long bis(anthraoxa)quinodimethanes with nine (ABA) and ten (ANA) consecutively fused six-membered rings. The former is stable with negligible diradical character, while the latter with a moderate diradical ...

Asterless Licenses Daughter Centrioles to Duplicate for the First Time in Drosophila Embryos

open access: yesCurrent Biology, 2014
Summary Centrioles form centrosomes and cilia, and defects in any of these three organelles are associated with human disease [1]. Centrioles duplicate once per cell cycle, when a mother centriole assembles an adjacent daughter during S phase.

Supplementary Figures from Interaction interface in the C-terminal parts of centriole proteins Sas6 and Ana2

open access: yes, 2020
The centriole is a ninefold symmetrical structure found at the core of centrosomes and, as a basal body, at the base of cilia, whose conserved duplication is regulated by Plk4 kinase. Plk4 phosphorylates a single serine residue at the N-terminus of Ana2 to promote Ana2's loading to the site of procentriole formation.

A combined 3D-SIM/SMLM approach allows centriole proteins to be localized with a precision of ∼4–5 nm

open access: yesCurrent Biology, 2017
Summary Centrioles are small barrel-shaped structures that form centrosomes and cilia [1]. Centrioles assemble around a central cartwheel comprising the Sas-6 and Ana2/STIL proteins.
