Anaerobic Glycolysis in Bovine Dental Pulp
Journal of Dental Research, 1968Anaerobic glycolysis in bovine dental pulp was measured manometrically by the bicarbonate method. It is most prominent in dentinogenically active pulp. Although reasonably high initial activity seems possible. the rate of glycolysis declines rapidly under anaerobic conditions.

Energetics of anaerobic glycolysis in dog gastrocnemius
Pflügers Archiv, 1978Thermally isolated gastrocnemii were stimulated to exhaustion, by rhythmic isotonic (70 N) tetanic contractions, during complete occlusion of blood flow. Enthalpy change (h = work + heat) and work output (w) (kJ/kg) were obtained from records of deep muscle temperature and shortening.

Reduced anaerobic glycolysis in oral contraceptive users
Contraception, 1988Oral contraceptives containing combinations of estrogens and progestogens are known to impair glucose tolerance. The biochemical mechanisms underlying this lesion are speculative. In the present study women treated with OC for periods exceeding 10 cycles showed significant reduction in the activity of the key glycolytic enzyme phosphofructokinase (40%)

Anaerobic glycolysis modulates neuronal excitability
2023This dissertation describes the important role of anaerobic glycolysis-derived energy in seizure activity and a feedback mechanism to fine tune neuronal excitability through glycolysis-derived lactate and lactate receptor, HCA1R. We combined an enzyme-based lactate and glucose biosensor probes with video-EEG recordings, genetically-encoded calcium ...

Anaerobic glycolysis in homogenates of Trichinella spiralis larvae
Experimental Parasitology, 1959Abstract 1. 1. Phosphorylative glycolysis has been demonstrated in T. spiralis larvae; fructose-1,6-diphosphate, diphosphopyridine nucleotide, magnesium, and pyruvate, were required for maximum activities. 2. 2. Lactic acid was an end product of glycolysis, although apparently not a major one.

Anaerobic Activation of Glycolysis in Tumour Tissue
Nature, 1932ROSENTHAL1 has shown that when the anaerobic conversion of fructose to lactic acid by the Jensen rat sarcoma is studied by Warburg's method, a spontaneous increase in the rate of acid production , which he ascribes to the anaerobic formation of an activator, occurs about forty minutes after the manometric vessels are put into the thermostat at 38° C ...

Studies of anaerobic and aerobic glycolysis in Saccharomyces cerevisiae
Biochemistry, 1986Glucose metabolism was followed in suspensions of Saccharomyces cerevisiae by using 13C NMR and 14C radioactive labeling techniques and by Warburg manometer experiments. These experiments were performed for cells grown with various carbon sources in the growth medium, so as to evaluate the effect of catabolite repression.

Increased anaerobic glycolysis in mitochondrial trifunctional protein-deficient brain
Journal of the Neurological Sciences, 2001Deficiency of mitochondrial trifunctional protein (TP), beta-oxidation enzyme, is characterized by recurrent rhabdomyolysis in adult patients. Positron emission tomography was used to measure brain oxygen (CMRO(2)) and glucose (CMRGlc) metabolisms in an adult patient with TP deficiency who had a homozygous G1331A transition of the beta-subunit gene ...

Rate of Anaerobic Glycolysis versus Structure in Pork Muscle
Nature, 1961THE pH of pork musculature after cessation of post-mortem glycolysis (ultimate pH) has long been known to be decisive for structure and water-holding capacity of the muscle. Recent observations1,2 have shown that considerable variation in structure of muscle with the same ultimate pH may be recorded.
