Multi‐Component Functionalized Bifidobacterium Longum Hydrogel for Multi‐Target Integrated Therapy of Colitis‐Associated Anxiety and Depression

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
A pH/MMP dual‐responsive Bifidobacterium longum (BL) hydrogel (INPs@BL@Gel) functionalized with baicalin, tyrosine, and inulin is constructed. It enables gastric protection, inflammation‐targeted release, and prolonged intestinal colonization. By remodeling gut microbiota, elevating beneficial neuroactive metabolites (homovanillic acid, short‐chain ...

Arginase 2 Promotes Colorectal Cancer Metastasis via PI3K/AKT Pathway Activation and Regulates Tumor Immune Infiltration

open access: yesCancer Medicine
Background Colorectal cancer (CRC) is a leading cause of cancer‐related deaths, with metabolic reprogramming involved in its pathogenesis. Aberrant Arginase 2 (ARG2) expression is linked to malignant progression, but its role in CRC remains unclear ...

Identification and predictive machine learning model construction of gut microbiota associated with carcinoembryonic antigens in colorectal cancer

open access: yesmSphere
Carcinoembryonic antigen (CEA) is a critical colorectal cancer (CRC) biomarker, but its mechanistic link to gut microbiota remains unclear. This study characterized gut microbiota differences between high-CEA (H-CEA) and low-CEA (L-CEA) CRC patients and ...

Impact of Abdominoperineal Resection on Postoperative Male Sexual Function After Minimally Invasive Rectal Cancer Surgery: A Subgroup Analysis From the LANDMARC Study

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
Abdominoperineal resection (APR) after minimally invasive rectal cancer surgery was associated with significantly higher rates of erectile and early ejaculatory dysfunction compared with anal‐sparing surgery. Although ejaculatory function showed partial recovery over time, erectile dysfunction persisted up to 12 months postoperatively.

Exploring the gut microbiota associated with peripheral nerve invasion in colorectal cancer patients and constructing predictive models

open access: yesBMC Microbiology
Objective This study aims to explore the differences in composition, abundance, and biological functions of the gut microbiota between colorectal cancer (CRC) patients with peripheral nerve invasion (PNI) and those without peripheral nerve invasion (NPNI)

Comparison of Minimally Invasive Colectomy Between Intra‐ Versus Extra‐Corporeal Anastomosis Technique (COMMIT Study): Mid‐Term Analysis

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
This multicenter retrospective cohort study compared mid‐term oncological outcomes between intracorporeal anastomosis (IA) and extracorporeal anastomosis (EA) in minimally invasive colectomy for colon cancer using propensity score–matched data from 2018 to 2022.

Relationship Between the Product of Pre‐Treatment Neutrophil and Monocyte Counts and Clinical Outcomes in Rectal Cancer With Suspected Lateral Lymph Node Metastasis

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Aim A novel systemic inflammatory response marker, the neutrophil × monocyte value (NM value), has been identified as a negative predictive factor for responses to chemoradiotherapy in rectal cancer. However, the clinical implications of the NM value remain unknown.

Preoperative Computed Tomography Colonography‐Angiography for Vascular Mapping to Guide and Standardize D3 Lymphadenectomy in Right‐Sided and Transverse Colon Cancer

open access: yesAnnals of Gastroenterological Surgery, EarlyView.
This study utilized high‐resolution CT colonography‐angiography to systematically classify vascular branching patterns in 591 patients. We defined four reproducible anatomical patterns each for right hemicolectomy and transverse colectomy, demonstrating that an independent‐origin middle colic artery consistently predicts shorter dissection distances ...

Risk stratification and anal cancer screening in immunocompetent women with genital HPV: Value of multicentric HSIL and performance of HPV-based screening. [PDF]

open access: yesInt J Cancer
What's new? Anal squamous cell carcinoma (ASCC) incidence is increasing, with most cases occurring in immunocompetent women. ASCC risk is linked in particular to genital human papillomavirus (HPV) infection and HPV‐associated high‐grade squamous intraepithelial lesions (HSILs).
