Fully Humanized Bispecific T Cell Engager Shows Potent Activity in Central Nervous System and Peripheral Tumors

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study reports the development of a fully humanized bispecific T cell engager targeting IL13RA2, a tumor‐associated antigen enriched in glioblastoma. This off‐the‐shelf immunotherapy drives potent, antigen‐dependent T cell activation and tumor killing, and prolongs survival in experimental GBM and other solid tumors models without detectable off ...

Methylglyoxal Accumulation is Associated with Brain Inflammation after Myocardial Infarction with Sex and Regional Differences

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study identifies that methylglyoxal may play an important role in heart‐brain interactions after myocardial infarction. Myocardial infarction leads to increased levels of methylglyoxal‐derived advanced glycation end‐products (MG‐H1) in the brain of mice, which is associated with loss of blood‐brain barrier integrity and neuroinflammation ...

Dexmedetomidine in combination with sufentanil for postoperative analgesia after partial laryngectomy

open access: yesBMC Anesthesiology, 2017
Background Dexmedetomidine as an adjunct with opioids has been confirmed to spare opioids usage and improve analgesia for postoperative pain treatment. Furthermore, dexmedetomidine can attenuate the airway reflex.

Depletion of p75NTR in Schwann Cells Driven by Inflammation Mediates Cutaneous Pain in Psoriasis

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Psoriasis‐like inflammation induces proliferation and molecular remodeling of cutaneous Schwann cells, marked by reduced p75NTR and increased NGF expression. IL‐17A promotes this process, whereas Schwann cell‐specific p75NTR overexpression alleviates cutaneous pain in vivo.

Efficacy and safety of patient-controlled epidural analgesia versus patient-controlled intravenous analgesia following open hepatectomy: A single-center retrospective study

open access: yesHeliyon
Background: Postoperative analgesia is an essential component of enhanced recovery after surgery following abdominal surgery. Studies comparing the effectiveness of epidural analgesia with that of other analgesic modalities after liver surgery have ...

Transient neurologic symptoms following spinal anesthesia with isobaric mepivacaine: A decade of experience at Toronto Western Hospital [PDF]

open access: yes, 2018
Background: Transient neurologic symptoms (TNSs) can be distressing for patients and providers following uneventful spinal anesthesia. Spinal mepivacaine may be less commonly associated with TNS than lidocaine; however, reported rates of TNS with ...

Mechanically Robust Biodegradable Stents With Theragenerative Vascular Responses via Combined 3D Printing and Janus Nanoengineering

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This work introduces a theragenerative 3D‐printed biodegradable stent with Janus nanoarchitecture for spatially controlled vascular healing. A luminal tantalum ion–implanted surface accelerates endothelialization and hemocompatibility, while an abluminal sirolimus/poly‐L‐lactic acid–tantalum layer provides sustained drug release and suppresses smooth ...
