Analytical Mechanics in Stochastic Dynamics: Most Probable Path, Large-Deviation Rate Function and Hamilton-Jacobi Equation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Analytical (rational) mechanics is the mathematical structure of Newtonian deterministic dynamics developed by D'Alembert, Lagrange, Hamilton, Jacobi, and many other luminaries of applied mathematics.

On Applications of Semi-Analytical Methods of Contact Mechanics

open access: yesFrontiers in Mechanical Engineering, 2020
This paper is concerned with possible applications of semi-analytical methods of frictional contact mechanics. The semi-analytical solutions, such as the Method of Memory Diagrams, enable the load-displacement relationship for contact of two axisymmetric

An Analytical Study on the Mechanism of Grouping of Droplets

open access: yesFluids, 2022
The condition for the formation of droplet groups in liquid sprays is poorly understood. This study looks at a simplified model system consisting of two iso-propanol droplets of equal diameter, Dd0, in tandem, separated initially by a center-to-center distance, a20, and moving in the direction of gravity with an initial velocity, Vd0>Vt, where Vt is

Close Binary Stars Modeled by Two Prolate Ellipsoids in Synchronous Rotation

open access: yesThe Astronomical Journal, 2023
The presence of tidal deformations in close binary stars has already been confirmed by astronomical observations. The present paper aims to simply address an astronomy problem, studying the relative movement of close binaries disturbed by their mutual ...

Udwadia–Kalaba Equation for Constrained Mechanical Systems: Formulation and Applications

open access: yesChinese Journal of Mechanical Engineering, 2018
There are many achievements in the field of analytical mechanics, such as Lagrange Equation, Hamilton’s Principle, Kane’s Equation. Compared to Newton–Euler mechanics, analytical mechanics have a wider range of applications and the formulation procedures

Novel Analytical and Numerical Approximations to the Forced Damped Parametric Driven Pendulum Oscillator: Chebyshev Collocation Method

open access: yesJournal of Mathematics, 2022
In this work, some novel approximate analytical and numerical solutions to the forced damped driven nonlinear (FDDN) pendulum equation and some relation equations of motion on the pivot vertically for arbitrary angles are obtained.

Mechanical Foundations of the Generalized Second Law and the Irreversibility Principle

open access: yesFoundations
We follow the Boltzmann-Clausius-Maxwell (BCM) proposal to establish the generalized second law (GSL) that is applicable to a system of any size, including a single particle system as our example establishes, and that supercedes the celebrated second law

Geographic variation in walking activity in the red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum

open access: yesPopulation Ecology, EarlyView.
This study examined whether there is geographic variation in field populations, focusing on the moving activity in the red flour beetle Tribolium castaneum. Results showed significant differences in moving activity among field populations but no correlation with latitude or meteorological factors.
