Nutritional Composition of Pineapple ( Ananas comosus (L.) Merr.)
2016"Smooth Cayenne", accounting for 90% of processing pineapple, has been the backbone of the global pineapple industry for more than a century. Cultivars of the Cayenne group have a high content of total soluble sugar and acidity. Queen group pineapple, mainly for fresh consumption, contains high sugar and moderate acidity. Both sugar and acidity are low

Pineapple (Ananas comosus L. Merr.)
1989Pineapple (Ananas comosus) is a fruit crop (Fig. 1) which originated in the tropical regions of America. After the discovery of this crop in the West Indies by Columbus, it was caried to many parts of the world. In 1982, total world production of pineapple was 8 864000 metric tons (FAO 1982), mainly produced in Thailand, the Philippines, Brazil, India,

An integrated genetic map of pineapple (Ananas comosus (L.) Merr.)
Scientia Horticulturae, 2013Abstract The inclusion of multiple new markers, in particular 41 sequence specific markers, resulted in drastically improved version of a previously published F1-based genetic map of pineapple (Ananas comosus). The integration of the new version of this map with a more recently published F2-based map resulted in a map that assembles 741 loci: 739 DNA

Polymorphic microsatellite markers in pineapple (Ananas comosus (L.) Merrill)
Scientia Horticulturae, 2013Abstract Simple Sequence Repeats (SSRs), also known as microsatellites, have not been used extensively to study the genetic diversity of pineapple (Ananas comosus (L.) Merrill). In this work the performance of existing pineapple-specific microsatellite primers and of primers based on microsatellite sequence information from Ananas bracteatus (L ...

Germination of synthetic seeds of pineapple (Ananas comosus L. Merr.)
Plant Cell Reports, 2002Tufts of multiple shoots were produced from dormant, axillary buds of pineapple in vitro. Tiny shoots (2–5 mm) isolated from the tuft of multiple shoots were encapsulated in 3% sodium alginate prepared using hormone-free Murashige and Skoog's basal medium, Murashige and Skoog's vitamins, 0.56 mM myo-inositol and 0.06 M sucrose.

The Water of Pineapple Ananas Comosus (L.) as an Alternative Natural Antioxidant
SSRN Electronic Journal, 2018To utilize natural resources in Indonesia, pineapple production reached 1,837,159 in 2013. Natural antioxidants developed in line with the finding of the research that has the cariogenic side effect of synthetic antioxidants for the body. Pineapple as a natural antioxidant contains of flavonoids, vitamin A and vitamin C.

Agrobacterium-Mediated Genetic Transformation of Pineapple (Ananas comosus L., Merr.)
2012Pineapple (Ananas comosus L., Merr.) is a commercially important crop, grown in the tropical and subtropical regions. However, the crop is faced with postharvest damage and poor varietal and nutritional improvement. Being a vegetatively propagated crop, conventional breeding programs take longer time for genetic improvement, which may not necessarily ...

Characterization of Sinapyl Derivatives in Pineapple (Ananas comosus [L.] Merill) Juice
Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 1999Three previously unidentified phenolic compounds were found in pineapple (Ananas comosus [L.] Merill) juice in substantial concentrations and were isolated by semipreparative reverse phase HPLC. The structures were elucidated from UV spectra, acid hydrolysis, and subsequent amino acid analysis, mass spectrometry, and two-dimensional NMR spectroscopy ...

A Frequently Mutating Gene in the Pineapple Ananas Comosus (L.) Merr
The American Naturalist, 1936The spiny-leaved plants and the spiny-smooth chimera plants which are found in Cayenne fields originate as somatic mutations. The percentage of chimera plants was found to be smaller in the Cayenne variety, which genetic tests had indicated as being hybrid for spiny leaves, than in smooth-leaved hybrid plants produced by crossing smooth-leaved with ...
