CDH1 Orchestrates Anabolic Events to Promote Cell Cycle Initiation

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 47, December 18, 2025.
Cell proliferation requires the integration of cell cycle and anabolic signals. G1‐phase regulator CDH1 coordinates anabolism through the CDH1‐VHL‐AARS2/HIF1α axis, while CDH1‐accumulated R5P is sensed by TKTL1 to facilitate CDH1 degradation and cell cycle initiation, constituting a CDH1‐centered regulatory circuit.

Interphase APC/C–Cdc20 inhibition by cyclin A2–Cdk2 ensures efficient mitotic entry

open access: yesNature Communications, 2016
The Anaphase Promoting Complex/Cyclosome (APC/C) and its co-activator Cdc20 regulate mitotic progression, but both are also present in interphase. Here Hein and Nilsson show that Cyclin A2–CDK2 phosphorylates Cdc20 to inhibit APC/C–Cdc20 activity during ...

Polo‐Like Kinase 1 Phosphorylation Tunes the Functional Viscoelastic Properties of the Centrosome Scaffold

open access: yesAdvanced Science, Volume 12, Issue 45, December 4, 2025.
To enable mitotic spindle assembly during cell division, centrosomes must bear tensile stresses generated by microtubule‐mediated pulling forces. Micro‐rheology reveals that PLK‐1 phosphorylation of the scaffold protein SPD‐5 tunes the viscoelasticity, size, and morphology of the centrosome scaffold in C. elegans.

Cyclin A2 degradation during the spindle assembly checkpoint requires multiple binding modes to the APC/C

open access: yesNature Communications, 2019
During the spindle assembly checkpoint, the activity of the anaphase promoting complex/cyclosome (APC/C) is repressed, yet cyclin A2 evades the checkpoint and is targeted for degradation.

E3 Ubiquitin Ligases: Structures, Biological Functions, Diseases, and Therapy

open access: yesMedComm, Volume 6, Issue 12, December 2025.
E3 ligases function as critical regulators of cellular protein degradation, and their dysregulation is a core pathogenic mechanism in a wide array of human diseases, including cancer, cardiovascular conditions, neurodegenerative disorders, and autoimmune diseases.
