CCDC41 is essential for meiotic maturation in mouse oocytes through regulating Rab7‐positive endosomes fusion with lysosomes and Rab11a‐positive vesicle fusion with the plasma membrane. Abstract Coiled‐coil domain‐containing protein 41 (CCDC41), a core component of centriolar distal appendages involved in centriole assembly and ciliary vesicle docking,

Processive ubiquitin chain formation by the anaphase-promoting complex [PDF]
Progression through mitosis requires the sequential ubiquitination of cell cycle regulators by the anaphase-promoting complex, resulting in their proteasomal degradation. Although several mechanisms contribute to APC/C regulation during mitosis, the APC/C is able to discriminate between its many substrates by exploiting differences in the processivity ...

Transitions Regulating the Timing of Cytokinesis in Embryonic Cells [PDF]
Anaphase, mitotic exit, and cytokinesis proceed in rapid succession, and while mitotic exit is a requirement for cytokinesis in yeast [1, 2], it may not be a direct requirement for furrow initiation in animal cells [3, 4].

Folic acid (FA) and multivitamins/minerals (MVM) are recommended for the prevention of neural tube defects (NTDs). Using a novel human neural tube‐like organoid system and mouse models, the study compares the effectiveness of two supplements on NTDs and cellular behaviors.

Spatiotemporal regulation of the anaphase-promoting complex in mitosis [PDF]
The appropriate timing of events that lead to chromosome segregation during mitosis and cytokinesis is essential to prevent aneuploidy, and defects in these processes can contribute to tumorigenesis. Key mitotic regulators are controlled through ubiquitylation and proteasome-mediated degradation. The APC/C (anaphase-promoting complex; also known as the

Modeling Dual Pathways for the Metazoan Spindle Assembly Checkpoint [PDF]
Using computational modelling, we investigate mechanisms of signal transduction focusing on the spindle assembly checkpoint where a single unattached kinetochore is able to signal to prevent cell cycle progression.

NuSAP Safeguards Centriole Integrity to Mediate CEP57‐CEP152 Torus Recruitment for Proper Engagement
This study reveals a novel role for the microtubule stabilizer NuSAP at centrioles. NuSAP depletion destabilizes the centriole's tubulin structure, causing premature disengagement, PCM defects, and mis‐localization of the CEP57‐CEP63‐CEP152 complex. By reinforcing centriole architecture, NuSAP enables early CEP57 loading and initiates a newly proposed ...

MAD2B is an inhibitor of the anaphase-promoting complex [PDF]
Anaphase-promoting complex (APC), a ubiquitin ligase, controls both sister chromatid separation and mitotic exit. The APC is activated in mitosis and G1 by CDC20 and CDH1, and inhibited by the checkpoint protein MAD2, a specific inhibitor of CDC20. We show here that a MAD2 homolog MAD2B also inhibits APC.

HIM-10 is required for kinetochore structure and function on Caenorhabditis elegans holocentric chromosomes. [PDF]
Macromolecular structures called kinetochores attach and move chromosomes within the spindle during chromosome segregation. Using electron microscopy, we identified a structure on the holocentric mitotic and meiotic chromosomes of Caenorhabditis elegans ...
