Angiogenesis: an update.

open access: yesHistology and histopathology, 1994
Angiogenesis is the neovascularization or formation of new blood vessels from the established microcirculation. It is particularly important and indispensable in a large number of normal and pathological processes during pre- and post-natal life, including neoplasia, inflammation, wound repair and collaterization in response to ischemic stimuli.

Tumor Angiogenesis [PDF]

open access: yesJournal of Investigative Dermatology Symposium Proceedings, 2000
In order to grow beyond minimal size and to metastasize, tumors need to induce the growth of new blood vessels (angiogenesis). Whereas in normal tissues, vascular quiescence is maintained by the dominant influence of endogenous angiogenesis inhibitors over angiogenic stimuli, tumor angiogenesis is induced by increased secretion of angiogenic factors ...

Preparation and characterization of renal cell peptides from fetal rats for their antitumor activity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
This study aimed to prepare renal cells (RCs) from fetal rats which were digested by enzymes. Candidate peptides RCPs were characterized by capillary HPLC and MS and their bioactivity was predicted using peptideranker. The predicted top 10 bioactive peptides were synthesized.

High Ki-67 expression is associated with prolactin secreting pituitary adenomas

open access: yesBiomolecules & Biomedicine, 2017
Pituitary adenomas represent the third most common primary intracranial tumor in neurosurgical practice. To understand the biological behaviour of the pituitary adenomas previous studies have determined the tumor proliferation rate using monoclonal ...

Glycosylation Gene Signatures as Prognostic Biomarkers in Glioblastoma

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Glioblastoma (GBM) is an aggressive brain tumor characterized by significant heterogeneity. This study investigates the role of glycosylation‐related genes in GBM subtyping, prognosis, and response to therapy. Methods We analyzed mRNA expression data and clinical information from The Cancer Genome Atlas (TCGA) and Gene Expression ...

Forskolin Enhances Urokinase Plasminogen Activator Secretion and Angiogenic Activity of Xeno‐Free Cultures of Human Adipose Tissue‐Derived Stem Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
The regenerative potential of adipose tissue‐derived stem cells can be enhanced through chemical stimulation in vitro. A short stimulation protocol using forskolin, either alone or in combination with other growth factors, under xeno‐free conditions enhanced the pro‐angiogenic responses in human ASCs.

Retrotransposon Expression Is Upregulated in Adulthood and Suppressed during Regeneration of the Limb in the Axolotl (Ambystoma mexicanum)

open access: yesAdvanced Biology, EarlyView.
The axolotl's remarkable regenerative abilities decline with age, the causes may include the numerous repetitive elements within its genome. This study uncovers how Ty3 retrotransposons and coexpression networks involving muscle and immune pathways respond to aging and regeneration, suggesting that transposons respond to physiological shifts and may ...

The food dye Tartrazine disrupts vascular formation both in zebrafish larvae and in human primary endothelial cells

open access: yesScientific Reports
Tartrazine (E102) is a controversial coloring agent whose potential impacts on human health are not fully understood. Our study reveals the vascular disrupting effects of tartrazine (TTZ) on developing zebrafish embryos in vivo and on human umbilical ...
