Ball Contact Locus in an Angular Contact Bearing

Journal of Lubrication Technology, 1983
The path of contact on the surface of a bearing ball is derived for pure spin and regular precession. Ball-race and ball-ball contacts are considered in a retainerless bearing. Track broadening and equatorial offset are found; quantitative experimental agreement is shown.

Thermo-mechanical analysis of angular contact ball bearing

Journal of Mechanical Science and Technology, 2016
The thermal-mechanical character, which is difficult to ensure because of the lack of a corresponding theory and tool, has a significant effect on the dynamics of bearings. It even leads to a sudden failure of bearings in a working situation. In this research, a thermal deformation model was established, based on the analysis of temperature effect on ...

Angular-Contact Ball Bearing Optimization Study.

1995
Abstract : Ongoing studies have indicated that advanced engines will be required to operate at higher temperatures and increased rotor speeds. The object of this project was to find the optimum internal geometry for a high speed, hybrid thrust bearing, which produces minimum heat generation.

Angular contact ball bearing experimental spall propagation observations

Proceedings of the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, Part J: Journal of Engineering Tribology, 2014
Modern applications require bearings to survive in severe environments or when subjected to extreme loads and speeds. Some application designs require that a damaged bearing survives a specified duration. In particular, a clearer understanding of spall propagation in bearings may help design engineers prevent rapid damage propagation events and ...

Contact trajectory of angular contact ball bearings under dynamic operating condition

Tribology International, 2016
Abstract A contact trajectory model of ball bearings under the dynamic condition was developed by the means of the development of the integrated multi-body dynamics and multi-freedom kinematics with the multi-interfacial contact mechanics. Subsequently, the general methodology was employed to investigate the dynamic contact performance of ball ...

Precessional slip in an angular contact ball bearing

Wear, 1982
Abstract A previously reported ball precessional motion in an angular contact bearing is analyzed. Explicit forms for ball-race slip are given, both with and without precession. Slip and entrainment velocity at ball-ball contacts in a retainerless bearing are also given, also with and without precession.

Slip Measurement in an Angular Contact Ball Bearing

Journal of Lubrication Technology, 1983
An experimental method for ball-race slip measurement that includes a method for determining the geometry of an assembled bearing from easily and accurately measured parameters is presented herein. Slip measurements taken with four fluid lubricants are discussed in terms of quantity, structure, bulk properties, and degradation.

Slip Analysis of Wind Turbine Angular Contact Ball Bearing

Advanced Materials Research, 2013
Wind machine high speed shaft bearing in high speed and light load conditions,it is prone to produce skidding.Skidding damage often becomes one of the main damage forms.According to EHD lubrication theory, this paper establishes the interacting model among rolling-elements,which includes gyroscopic and centrifugal effects,to study the skidding ...

Basic Speed Ratio of an Angular Contact Bearing

Journal of Lubrication Technology, 1980
A characteristic number, the basic speed ratio for an angular contact ball bearing, is defined and shown to be 1) accurately measurable; and 2) dependent on ball-race coupling. Some measurements of basic speed ratio are discussed in terms of kinematic equivalence, and compared with predictions obtained from a computer simulation.
