Multi-Body Contact Dynamics Analysis of Angular Contact Ball Bearing

Applied Mechanics and Materials, 2013
The 3-D multi-body contact dynamics simulation model was built by ADAMS base on the Hertz contact theory and multi-body contact dynamics, which considered the dynamics relationship among the ball, ring and cage of the bearing. Considering the clearancesfrictions and loads, results that contained deformation and displacement of the bearing, trajectory ...

Precessional slip in an angular contact ball bearing

Wear, 1982
Abstract A previously reported ball precessional motion in an angular contact bearing is analyzed. Explicit forms for ball-race slip are given, both with and without precession. Slip and entrainment velocity at ball-ball contacts in a retainerless bearing are also given, also with and without precession.

Angular-Contact Ball Bearing Optimization Study.

1995
Abstract : Ongoing studies have indicated that advanced engines will be required to operate at higher temperatures and increased rotor speeds. The object of this project was to find the optimum internal geometry for a high speed, hybrid thrust bearing, which produces minimum heat generation.

Basic Speed Ratio of an Angular Contact Bearing

Journal of Lubrication Technology, 1980
A characteristic number, the basic speed ratio for an angular contact ball bearing, is defined and shown to be 1) accurately measurable; and 2) dependent on ball-race coupling. Some measurements of basic speed ratio are discussed in terms of kinematic equivalence, and compared with predictions obtained from a computer simulation.

Effect of race conformities in angular contact ball bearing

Tribology International, 2016
Abstract The determination of race conformity of ball bearing is mainly based on the classical fatigue life theory; however, besides the fatigue life, skidding may also become the main concern due to high frictional heating in high-speed application; therefore the strategy of race conformity determination should be changed accordingly.

Thermo-mechanical analysis of angular contact ball bearing

Journal of Mechanical Science and Technology, 2016
The thermal-mechanical character, which is difficult to ensure because of the lack of a corresponding theory and tool, has a significant effect on the dynamics of bearings. It even leads to a sudden failure of bearings in a working situation. In this research, a thermal deformation model was established, based on the analysis of temperature effect on ...

Ball Motion Perturbation in an Angular-Contact Ball Bearing

A S L E Transactions, 1982
Spectral analysis of changes in the angular velocity vector of a bearing ball can be used to follow changes in ball-lubricant-race coupling in starved operation. Simultaneous measurements of basic speed ratio confirm the changes up to and through a lubricant breakdown failure. Presented at the 36th Annual Meeting in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, May 11–14,
