Effects of mechanical constraints on angular distortion of welding joints

Science and Technology of Welding and Joining, 2002
During the manufacture of steel structures, welding deformations have undesirable effects on the accuracy of assembly, external appearance, buckling strength, fatigue strength, etc. In particular, in such large steel structures as ships, welding deformations produced during assembly lead to variations in dimensions which require considerable time and ...

Limiting Tolerable Settlement and Angular Distortion for Building Foundations

Probabilistic Applications in Geotechnical Engineering, 2007
To develop reliability-based serviceability criteria for foundation design, the probability distributions of limiting tolerable displacements should be available. In this study, displacement information of 380 buildings, including 124 cases from Hong Kong and Mainland China, is collected for analysis.

Distortion-Band-Pass Considerations in Angular Modulation

Proceedings of the IRE, 1950
The distortion introduced into an angular modulated signal transmitted through a network or medium is analyzed using the sideband approach. An exact open-form solution of the output signal is derived; however, the usefulness of this equation is limited by the ability to perform the indicated integrations. It is shown that exact solutions may readily be

ANGULAR DISTORTION IN BUTT ARC WELDING

2018
The importance of fusion weldingtechnology has been widely recognized in the manufacturing process of varioussteel structures such as ships, bridges, construction machines, power plants, and automobiles. However, a significant disadvantage of fusion welding is thatit often generates unacceptable levels of geometric imperfections such asshrinkage and ...

Alpha-gamma angular correlations and the distorted-waves theory

Physics Letters, 1962
The angular correlation between the alpha particle inelastically- scattered from the 4.43-Mev level of C/sup 12/ and its de-excitation gamma ray was measured at various scattering angles to test theoretical predictions of the correlation parameters. Data are presented in graphical form. (L.N.N.)

Angular Distortion Removal of THz Anisotropic Dichroism Microscope

2019 44th International Conference on Infrared, Millimeter, and Terahertz Waves (IRMMW-THz), 2019
We have developed a stationary sample THz anisotropic dichroism microscope as a powerful tool for material characterization. The key innovation is the use of an iso-response curve defined by the terahertz and detection light polarizations. Here we show that following a continuous iso-response curve introduces angular distortion in the spectrum, and ...

Fatigue Strength of Butt-Welded Joints with Angular Distortion

1981
The fatigue strength of butt-welded joints having angular distortion is investigated for the amount of angular distortion, overstressing prior to fatigue loading, and the distance between loading points. The cyclic strain range, measured near the toe of the reinforcement of weld, correlate with the fatigue life regardless of the amount of angular ...

Urbach edges and angular distortions in a-Si:H and related alloys

Journal of Non-Crystalline Solids, 1989
Abstract We propose a general discussion of the experimental correlation between the valence band tail slope parameter k B T v and the rms deviation ΔΘ b of the SiSi bond angle distribution which has been observed by various authors in doped and undoped a-Si:H, as well as in a-SiGe:H and a-SiN:H alloys.

Simple all-sky camera without angular distortion

Hvar Observatory bulletin, 1993
All-sky cameras with spherical mirrors are used in several astronomical applications. However, such a camera suffers from angular distortion near the edge of the image. By using an aspberical mirror of appropriate shape, it is posssible to eliminate angular distortion.
