Distortion mitigation in interferometric angular velocity measurements

open access: yesElectronics Letters, 2014
New methods for reducing signal distortion in interferometric angular velocity measurements are introduced. Two waveform approaches are proposed: long‐wavelength signals and short‐pulse signals. The source of nonlinear distortion is derived and analysed, and the strengths and drawbacks of each method are discussed.

Probability property of orbital angular momentum distortion in turbulence

open access: yesOptics Express, 2021
The probability property of the orbital angular momentum (OAM) distortion of the Bessel Gaussian beam propagating through the turbulence is investigated in this study. The mean and variance of the beam harmonic intensity are derived from the Rytov theory with a bias of less than 6% when compared with the data calculated by the phase-screen method ...

Numerical modelling of pile foundation angular distortion

open access: yesSoils and Foundations, 2015
In this paper, the PLAXIS 3-D Foundation finite element (FE) software package, in conjunction with the nonlinear Hardening Soil (HS) constitutive model, is employed in an extensive parametric study of the angular distortion of piled foundations. Angular distortion has been documented as the most influential settlement characteristic in the cracking of ...

Prediction of the welding distortion of large steel structure with mechanical restraint using equivalent load methods

open access: yesInternational Journal of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering, 2017
The design dimension may not be satisfactory at the final stage due to the welding during the assembly stage, leading to cutting or adding the components in large structure constructions.
