Design of a Miniaturized and Polarization-Independent Frequency-Selective Surface for Targeted EMI Shielding

open access: yesApplied Sciences
In this article, a miniaturized frequency-selective surface (FSS)-based electromagnetic shield is investigated for EMI mitigation in the X-band. The FSS comprises a convoluted conducting loop designed over an FR-4 substrate.

Attitude control of on-orbit capture spacecraft with angular velocity constraint

open access: yesXibei Gongye Daxue Xuebao, 2022
Aiming at the attitude control problem of spacecraft in the capturing non-cooperative target process, a dual tracking robust adaptive attitude controller is designed. Firstly, a bounded virtual angular velocity is designed for the kinematics equations to

Hunting Stability of High-Speed Railway Vehicles Under Steady Aerodynamic Loads

open access: yes, 2018
With the rising speed of high-speed trains, the aerodynamic loads become more significant and their influences on the hunting stability of railway vehicles deserve to be considered.

Rotor angle stability with high penetrations of wind generation

open access: yes, 2012
This paper explores the relationship between wind generation, particularly the control of reactive power from variable speed wind turbine generators, and the rotor angle stability of the conventional synchronous generators in the system.

Frequency Selective Surface With Two Quasi-Independent Notch Frequencies

open access: yesIEEE Access, 2019
A double-layer frequency selective surface (FSS) built on FR4 substrate exhibiting two notch frequencies in the 0-10-GHz range is introduced. Recently published examples demonstrate that further research needs to be undergone for obtaining separate ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Angular and position stability
of a nanorod trapped in an optical tweezers

open access: yesOptics Express, 2010
We analyze the trap stiffness and trapping force potential for a nano-cylinder trapped in the optical tweezers against its axial and lateral shift and tilt associated to the natural Brownian motion. We explain the physical properties of the optical trapping by computing and integrating the radiation stress distribution on the nano-cylinder surfaces ...

Residual tail twisting in ascidian larvae is stabilized by asymmetric myofibrils that resist bilateral symmetry restoration

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Ascidian Ciona larvae initially show strong clockwise tail twisting, which is largely corrected during development. However, a small residual twist remains. This study shows that organized helical myofibrils in tail muscles mechanically stabilize this residual asymmetry, preventing complete restoration of bilateral symmetry and revealing how embryos ...

Physical Optics and Reflection Locality in Designing Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces

open access: yesIEEE Open Journal of Antennas and Propagation
This paper discusses the applicability conditions of the Physical Optics (PO) approximation and investigates its predictive power for far-field diffraction patterns of Reconfigurable Intelligent Surfaces (RISs) based on binary metasurfaces (BMSs).

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...
