Generation of rat offspring from ovarian oocytes by xenotransplantation
The idea of utilizing unused oocytes present in the ovaries has been tested in various ways to produce offspring. However, only a limited number of studies succeeded in offspring generation.

The CYP2D6 animal model: how to induce autoimmune hepatitis in mice
Autoimmune hepatitis is a rare but life threatening autoimmune disease of the liver of unknown etiology1,2. In the past many attempts have been made to generate an animal model that reflects the characteristics of the human disease 3-5.

Structural insights into an engineered feruloyl esterase with improved MHET degrading properties
A feruloyl esterase was engineered to mimic key features of MHETase, enhancing the degradation of PET oligomers. Structural and computational analysis reveal how a point mutation stabilizes the active site and reshapes the binding cleft, expading substrate scope.

Caspase-1 cleaves PPARγ for potentiating the pro-tumor action of TAMs
Tumor associated macrophages (TAMs) promote cancer progression. Here, the author show that caspase-1 promotes TAMs differentiation by attenuating medium-chain acyl-CoA dehydrogenase activity and that inhibition of this axis results in suppression of ...

Gut microbiome and aging—A dynamic interplay of microbes, metabolites, and the immune system
Age‐dependent shifts in microbial communities engender shifts in microbial metabolite profiles. These in turn drive shifts in barrier surface permeability of the gut and brain and induce immune activation. When paired with preexisting age‐related chronic inflammation this increases the risk of neuroinflammation and neurodegenerative diseases.

Selection for feed efficiency using the social effects animal model in growing Duroc pigs: evaluation by simulation [PDF]
Background Traits recorded on animals that are raised in groups can be analysed with the social effects animal model (SAM). For multiple traits, this model specifies the genetic correlation structure more completely than the animal model (AM).

Biomolecular condensates formed by fused in sarcoma (FUS) are dissolved by high ATP concentrations yet persist in cells. Using a reconstituted system, we demonstrate that valosin‐containing protein (VCP), an AAA+ ATPase, counteracts ATP‐driven dissolution of FUS condensates through its D2 ATPase activity.

Feeding and the Equilibrium Feeder Animal Price-Weight Schedule [PDF]
Feeder animal prices depend on fed animal prices, the biological growth technology, and feed costs. In addition, daily maintenance costs can be avoided through accelerated feeding.

Impact assessment of an independent agency for animal health in England [PDF]
The applicability of a stochastic model was explored to assess the impact of a new independent agency for animal health in England in terms of the cost of animal disease outbreaks.
