The Effect of Alkyl Side Chain and Additives on the Anionic Polymerization of Isocyanates with Carbamate Group

Macromolecular Symposia, 2006
AbstractThe synthesis of new isocyanate monomers and their polymerization by anionic route is reported. Reaction of 1,6‐diisocyanatohexane with aliphatic alcohols such as methanol, n‐propanol and n‐pentanol in 1:0.5 molar ratios was carried out in the presence of pyridine such that one NCO group remained unreacted.

Kinetics and mechanism of anionic polymerization of ε-caprolactone in the presence of additions of protonic acids

Polymer Science U.S.S.R., 1979
Abstract The kinetic laws governing the polymerization of e-caprolactone under the action of aniline in the presence of additions of acids of various strengths, namely, acetic, trifluoracetic and hydrochloric acids, have been studied. A kinetic scheme for the process is suggested and the effective rate constants for initiation and chain propagation ...

Styrene‐vinyl pyridine diblock copolymers: Achieving high molecular weights by the combination of anionic and reversible addition–fragmentation chain transfer polymerizations

Journal of Polymer Science Part A: Polymer Chemistry, 2012
AbstractAnionic and reversible addition–fragmentation chain transfer (RAFT) polymerizations were combined for the preparation of high molecular weight (MW) amphiphilic diblock copolymers based on the hydrophobic styrene (Sty) and the more polar 2‐vinyl pyridine (2VPy) or 4‐vinyl pyridine (4VPy).

Monitoring of small‐scale anionic polymerization of caprolactam; a method to be used in an additive manufacturing process

Polymers for Advanced Technologies, 2013
The anionic polymerization of caprolactam using small quantities of reactants was investigated as part of a project aimed at producing polyamide parts by additive manufacturing. Various methods were used to monitor the polymerization and crystallization processes. Drop on drop small‐scale polymerization was carried out on a hot surface and monitored by

Additive Effect of Triethylborane on Anionic Polymerization of N,N-Dimethylacrylamide and N,N-Diethylacrylamide

Macromolecules, 2000
Anionic polymerizations of N,N-dimethylacrylamide (DMA) and N,N-diethylacrylamide (DEA) proceeded slowly and steadily with 1,1-diphenyl-3-methylpentyllithium (DPPLi) and with diphenylmethylpotassium (Ph2CHK) in the presence of triethylborane (Et3B) in THF even at 30 °C to afford the polymers having the predicted molecular weights and very narrow ...

Cationic and anionic polymeric additives for wall deactivation and selectivity control in the capillary electrophoretic separation of proteins in food samples

Journal of Chromatography A, 1998
Both cationic and anionic polymeric additives were used for the capillary electrophoretic separation of proteins in food samples. The cationic polyelectrolyte polydiallyldimethylammonium chloride was more effective in minimizing protein-wall interactions at pH 3 than at pH 7, presumably due to greater repulsion between the adsorbed polymer and proteins.

Stochastic Formulation of the General Differential Difference Equation for Addition-Growth Kinetic Processes—Example of Anionic Polymerization

Journal of Macromolecular Science: Part A - Chemistry, 1969
Abstract In an effort to lend some insight into the probabilistic nature of step-growth kinetic processes, the differential rate expression for anionic polymerization with one rate constant is derived from stochastic theory.
