The enzymes of glycogen and trehalose catabolism from Hysterothylacium aduncum (Nematoda: Anisakidae) [PDF]

open access: yesFolia Parasitologica, 2002
The activity of alpha-amylase, glucoamylase, maltase, trehalase, glycogen phosphorylase and trehalose phosphorylase was measured in extracts from larval and adult Hysterothylacium aduncum (Rudolphi, 1802), parasitic nematode of marine fish. The content of glycogen and trehalose in the worm's body was also determined.

Wildlife health risk analysis for conservation translocation: A scalable approach illustrated for wader population restoration

open access: yesConservation Science and Practice, Volume 7, Issue 9, September 2025.
We present a methodological framework for health risk analysis (disease risk analysis) for conservation translocation that enables the process to be scaled and adapted to the project context. We illustrate its application to two wader (shorebird) population restoration projects with differing translocation plans.

Unclear host taxonomy hinders parasite studies: An up‐to‐date checklist of the protozoan and metazoan parasites of Phoxinus minnows (Teleostei: Leuciscidae)

open access: yesJournal of Fish Biology, Volume 105, Issue 6, Page 1501-1539, December 2024.
Abstract Phoxinus minnows are small freshwater fish found throughout Eurasia. The taxonomy of this genus is still under investigation, and new species are regularly described. They are frequently introduced outside their native range due to their use as live bait for angling, and such fish introductions can have diverse impacts on the recipient areas ...
