The annexin A2 system and angiogenesis

Biological Chemistry, 2016
AbstractThe formation of new blood vessels from pre-existing vasculature, the process known as angiogenesis, is highly regulated by pro- and anti-angiogenic signaling molecules including growth factors and proteases. As an endothelial cell-surface co-receptor for plasminogen and tissue plasminogen activator, the annexin A2 (ANXA2) complex accelerates ...

Annexin A2, autoimmunity, anxiety and depression

Journal of Autoimmunity, 2016
Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is associated with neurological manifestations and one of the novel autoantigens associated with this disease is Annexin A2 (ANXA2). In this work we have examined the effect of high levels of autoantibodies to ANXA2 on the brain in a mouse model.Recombinant ANXA2 emulsified in adjuvant was used to immunize mice while ...

The association of annexin A2 and cancers

Clinical and Translational Oncology, 2012
Annexins are a group of calcium- and phospholipid-dependent proteins. As a member of the annexin, annexin A2 (Anxa2) is widely distributed in nucleus, cytoplasm and extracellular surface and mainly expressed in human endothelial cells, mononuclear cells, macrophages, marrow cells and some tumor cells.

Annexin A2 autoantibodies in thrombosis and autoimmune diseases

Thrombosis Research, 2015
Antiphospholipid syndrome (APS) is an autoimmune disease characterized by arterial, venous or small-vessel thrombotic events, and recurrent miscarriages or fetal loss. APS diagnosis is based on the repeated detection of anti-phospholipid (PL) antibodies (Ab), typically associated with anti-β2 glycoprotein I (β2GPI)-Ab.

Antibodies directed against annexin A2 and obstetric morbidity

Journal of Reproductive Immunology, 2016
Acquired and inherited thrombophilia have both been reported to be associated with an increased risk of obstetric complications in early or later stages of pregnancy. Annexin A2 (ANXA2) is strongly expressed in vascular and placental tissues and plays a crucial role in fibrinolysis.

Annexin A2 heterotetramer: role in tight junction assembly

American Journal of Physiology-Renal Physiology, 2004
The tight junction has been characterized as a domain of focal fusions of the exoplasmic leaflets of the lipid bilayers from adjacent epithelial cells. Approximating membranes to within fusion distance is a thermodynamically unfavorable process and requires the participation of membrane-bridging or -fusion proteins.

Vascular expression of annexin A2 in lupus nephritis

Journal of Clinical Pathology, 2015
Aims To evaluate vascular expression of annexin A2 (ANXA2) and its subunit S100A10 in lupus nephritis (LN). Methods The present histological study included 14 patients with LN and 11 controls (patients with non-lupus kidney diseases).

Annexin A2/P11 interaction: New insights into annexin A2 tetramer structure by chemical crosslinking, high‐resolution mass spectrometry, and computational modeling

Proteins: Structure, Function, and Bioinformatics, 2007
AbstractDuring the past few years, the structural analysis of proteins and protein complexes by chemical crosslinking and mass spectrometry has enjoyed increasing popularity. With this approach we have investigated the quaternary structure of the complex between annexin A2 and p11, which is involved in numerous cellular processes.

Annexins and phospholipase A2 inhibition.

Eicosanoids, 1993
Annexins of human placenta have been purified and characterized. In addition to annexins I to VI and II complex, two novel species of 45 and 68 kDa were obtained. Annexins V and II are most abundant. Phospholipase A2 inhibitory activity of annexin V is low in contrast to that of annexins I to VI, and it is best for annexin II complex.
