β‐Elemene Rescues Radiation‐Induced Enteritis by Orchestrating a Host‐Microbiome Circuit That Fuels Epigenetic DNA Repair

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study elucidates that β‐elemene promotes cellular uptake of L. gasseri‐derived lactate by enhancing the membrane translocation of MCT1 in a CD147‐dependent manner. Intracellular lactate, through the lactylation of RBBP4 at the K26 site, recruits EP300 to the promoter regions of downstream genes (POLD1/POLD3), catalyzing H3K27ac modification.

The expression of different annexins in the fish embryo is developmentally regulated

open access: yes, 1994
The expression of annexins, a family of Ca2+/phospholipid-binding proteins, was analyzed by biochemical and immunological criteria in the fish Misgurnus fossilis (loach), which is a good model system to study embryonic events.

Selective Targeting of Immune Checkpoints HLA‐G and CD47 Using Novel Dual Signaling Protein DSP216 Promotes Innate Anticancer Immunity

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
The inhibitory immune checkpoints HLA‐G and CD47 are expressed on certain tumor types and inhibit immune cells in the tumor microenvironment. DSP216 binds specifically to cancer cells expressing both HLA‐G and CD47, and blocks their inhibitory signaling.

Dose‐Dependent Reprogramming of Chromatin Accessibility by SOX4 Drives the Transcriptional Response to Iron Overload

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study demonstrates that iron overload triggers widespread chromatin compaction and transcriptional repression in human granulosa cells, recapitulating features of endometriosis. The epigenetic reprogramming is orchestrated by a TFEB‐SOX4‐SWI/SNF axis, with SOX4 acting as a central, dosage‐sensitive regulator.

Domain composition of bacterial annexins.

open access: yes, 2014
Domain architectures for bacterial annexins. HMMER3 and HHpred assignments of Pfam domains shown, as well as transmembrane region (TM) predictions. Broader rectangles with gold edges indicate weak similarities to full annexin tetrads (see also Fig.

Aptamer‐Engineered Liposomal Platform Enables in Situ cDC1 Vaccination to Potentiate Immunotherapy in Prostate Cancer

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Prostate cancer is immunologically ‘cold’, with scarce, dysfunctional type 1 conventional dendritic cells (cDC1s) that limit T cell priming. We introduce an aptamer‐targeted liposomedelivering FMS‐like tyrosine kinase 3 ligand (Flt3L) and chlorin e6 (Ce6). Ultrasound induces antigen release and cDC1s recruitment, creating an in situ cDC1 vaccine.

Annexins as Overlooked Regulators of Membrane Trafficking in Plant Cells

open access: yes, 2017
Annexins are an evolutionary conserved superfamily of proteins able to bind membrane phospholipids in a calcium-dependent manner. Their physiological roles are still being intensively examined and it seems that, despite their general structural ...

Metabolic Imbalance Triggers Adaptive Remodeling to Accelerate Diploidization in Murine Haploid Embryonic Stem Cells

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In this article, Shuai and colleagues demonstrate that metabolic remodeling drives self‐diploidization in murine haploid ESCs (haESCs). Mitochondrial dysfunction and imbalanced pyruvate metabolism underlie this process. Genome‐wide screening using haESCs identifies key mitochondrial quality‐control related genes, enabling a metabolism‐based medium that
