Transcriptional network analysis of PTEN‐protein‐deficient prostate tumors reveals robust stromal reprogramming and signs of senescent paracrine communication

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Combining PTEN protein assessment and transcriptomic profiling of prostate tumors, we uncovered a network enriched in senescence and extracellular matrix (ECM) programs associated with PTEN loss and conserved in a mouse model. We show that PTEN‐deficient cells trigger paracrine remodeling of the surrounding stroma and this information could help ...

Refractive changes of a new asymmetric intracorneal ring segment with variable thickness and base width: A 2D finite-element model.

open access: yesPLoS ONE, 2021
PurposeTo evaluate the local geometric effects of a unilateral intrastromal ring segment with a combined variation of ring thickness and base width in a finite element simulation, and to compare it against the isolated effect of thickness or base width ...

Low impact weight-bearing exercise in an upright posture achieves greater lumbopelvic stability than overground walking [PDF]

open access: yes, 2013
The aim of this study was to determine the kinematic differences between movements on a new exercise device (EX) that promotes a stable trunk over a moving, unstable base of support, and overground walking (OW).

Altered Anterior Segment Biometric Parameters in Mice Deficient in SPARC

open access: yesInvestigative Opthalmology & Visual Science, 2017
Secreted protein acidic and rich in cysteine (SPARC) and Hevin are structurally related matricellular proteins involved in extracellular matrix assembly. In this study, we compared the anterior chamber biometric parameters and iris collagen properties in SPARC-, Hevin- and SPARC-/Hevin-null with wild-type (WT) mice. The right eyes of 53 WT, 35 SPARC ...

Exploiting metabolic adaptations to overcome dabrafenib treatment resistance in melanoma cells

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We show that dabrafenib‐resistant melanoma cells undergo mitochondrial remodeling, leading to elevated respiration and ROS production balanced by stronger antioxidant defenses. This altered redox state promotes survival despite mitochondrial damage but renders resistant cells highly vulnerable to ROS‐inducing compounds such as PEITC, highlighting redox

Agreement of gonioscopy and anterior segment-optical coherence tomography in the assessment of the anterior chamber angle: A cross-sectional study

open access: yesKerala Journal of Ophthalmology, 2022
Purpose: The aim of the study was to evaluate the inter instrument agreement between gonioscopy and anterior segment optical coherence tomography (AS-OCT) in the assessment of the anterior chamber angle (ACA) in eyes with all Van Herick's grades. Methods:

PARP inhibition and pharmacological ascorbate demonstrate synergy in castration‐resistant prostate cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Pharmacologic ascorbate (vitamin C) increases ROS, disrupts cellular metabolism, and induces DNA damage in CRPC cells. These effects sensitize tumors to PARP inhibition, producing synergistic growth suppression with olaparib in vitro and significantly delayed tumor progression in vivo. Pyruvate rescue confirms ROS‐dependent activity.
