Crystal idioblasts are involved in the anther dehiscence of Nicotiana tabacum

Physiologia Plantarum, 2022
AbstractIn Nicotiana tabacum, the degeneration of connective tissue and stomium tissue (the stomium and circular cell cluster [CCC]) is essential for anther dehiscence. Both connective cells and CCC cells are crystal idioblasts, and these cells will undergo degeneration after accumulating calcium oxalate (CaOx) crystals.

Ontogeny and dehiscence of anther in Solanaceae

Bulletin de la Société Botanique de France. Lettres Botaniques, 1988
SummaryThe microsporangium is tetrasporangiate. The anther wall development follows Dicotyledonous and Basic types. The endothecium is multi-layered and becomes fibrous in the tip region only. The tapetum is of dual origin. Hypodermal resorption tissue differentiates in the septal region of the anther lobe and facilitates the anther dehiscence.

Ethylene regulates the timing of anther dehiscence in tobacco

Planta, 2003
We investigated the involvement of ethylene signaling in the development of the reproductive structures in tobacco ( Nicotiana tabacum L.) by studying flowers that were insensitive to ethylene. Ethylene-insensitivity was generated either by expression of the mutant etr1-1 ethylene-receptor allele from Arabidopsis thaliana or by treatment with the ...

OsFTIP7 determines auxin-mediated anther dehiscence in rice

Nature Plants, 2018
Anther dehiscence determines successful sexual reproduction of flowering plants through timely release of pollen grains for pollination and fertilization. Downregulation of auxin levels during pollen mitosis is essential for promoting anther dehiscence along with pollen maturation.

Filament histology and anther dehiscence

Botanical Journal of the Linnean Society, 1976
Several distinctive histological features of the stamen, especially of the filament, are described, some of these for the first time: for example, commonness of (a) mesarch xylem maturation, amphicribral bundles or else collateral strands with phloem considerably enveloping the xylem, and clustering of sieve elements of a bundle and their spatial ...

Mode of Anther Dehiscence in Kigelia pinnata (Jacq.) DC

National Academy Science Letters, 2016
Kigelia pinnata speculated to show late acting self incompatibility was subjected to critical observational analysis of its floral biology and it was found that the mechanism of anther opening varies within the anthers of a single flower and between the flowers of the same tree.

The regulatory mechanism of rapid lignification for timely anther dehiscence

Journal of Integrative Plant Biology
ABSTRACTAnther dehiscence is a crucial event in plant reproduction, tightly regulated and dependent on the lignification of the anther endothecium. In this study, we investigated the rapid lignification process that ensures timely anther dehiscence in Arabidopsis.

Anther Dehiscence and Circumscription of Miconia sect. Hypoxanthus (Melastomataceae)

Kew Bulletin, 2003
While most Melastomataceae have poricidal anthers, Miconia sect. Hypoxanthus (former sect. Chaenanthera) has anthers dehiscing by longitudinal pores, resembling rimose openings. Anther development of three species (Mironia pusilliflora and M. laticrenata from this section and M. cinnamomifolia from sect.

The Curious Anther of Bixa--Its Structure and Dehiscence

American Midland Naturalist, 1956
available for study. The gross features of the anthers were observed in whole mounts cleared in lactophenol. The structural details were investigated from microtome sections of material imbedded in paraffin and cut at thicknesses ranging from 8-12,u. The sections were stained with Heidenhain's iron-alumhaematoxylin followed by eosin.

Morphological and physiological differences between dehiscent and indehiscent anthers of Chrysanthemum morifolium

Journal of Plant Research, 2016
Spray cut chrysanthemums ornamental value and vase life are rapidly reduced with an increase in the pollen dispersal of the middle tubular bisexual flowers, and excessive pollen grains floating in the air are usually harmful to people. Thus, two cultivars were selected: the dehiscent 'Qx-097' and the indehiscent 'Qx-007', to investigate the ...
