Plant‐Derived Probiotics From Fermented Foods: Current Evidence on Antiviral Mechanisms and Gut–Lung Axis Modulation

open access: yesFood Frontiers, Volume 7, Issue 6, November 2026.
Plant‐derived probiotics from fermented foods exert anti‐respiratory virus effects via immune regulation, antiviral metabolites, and gut–lung axis, highlighting their advantages, key technologies, and application prospects. ABSTRACT Respiratory viral infections represent a major global public health threat, causing widespread morbidity, mortality, and ...

Food Properties, Bioactive Components, and Human Factors as Determinants of Low Nutrient Supply From Foods Can Be Improved With Adequate Nutritional Strategies

open access: yesFood Science &Nutrition, Volume 14, Issue 11, November 2026.
Nutrient adequacy depends on food composition, bioaccessibility, absorption, physiological utilization, dietary access, supply stability, etc. Food properties, human health, agricultural conditions, and socioeconomic barriers influence nutrient delivery.

High Endothelial Venules in Small Cell Lung Cancer: Prognostic Subtypes and Therapeutic Implications for Immunoradiotherapy

open access: yesInternational Journal of Cancer, Volume 159, Issue 9, Page 2314-2327, 1 November 2026.
ABSTRACT Small cell lung cancer (SCLC) is a highly aggressive neuroendocrine malignancy with an immunosuppressive tumor microenvironment, and current immunotherapy provides limited benefit. This highlights the need to identify microenvironmental features enabling effective immune responses.

Discrepant Urinary Findings Between Dipstick Protein and Sulfosalicylic Acid Test in a Patient With Hyaline Casts: A Case Report

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Laboratory Analysis, Volume 40, Issue 21, November 2026.
In this post‐transplant patient, increased hyaline casts with negative dipstick protein but positive SSA testing occurred during evolving acute kidney injury and resolved with renal recovery. This discordant urinalysis pattern may warrant confirmatory protein testing and correlation with serial renal function in patients at high risk of AKI.

Distinguishing Features of Anti-β2 Glycoprotein I Antibodies between Patients with Leprosy and the Antiphospholipid Syndrome

open access: yes, 2002
SummaryAnticardiolipin (ACA), anti-β2 glycoprotein I (β2GPI), and antiprothrombin antibodies of IgG and IgM classes were quantitated by enzyme-linked immunosorbent assays in 176 untreated leprosy patients across the histopathological spectrum. Positivity

Bacterial sialidases subvert the complement system through desialylation

open access: yesProtein Science, Volume 35, Issue 11, November 2026.
Abstract Bacterial sialidases (neuraminidases) are widely studied virulence factors, yet their impact on the complement system, a central component of innate immunity, remains poorly understood. Here, we investigate the effects of six sialidases from five human pathogens, including Bacteroides fragilis, Clostridium perfringens, Tannerella forsythia ...
