Anti-CD74 IGA antibodies, genetic polymorphisms and inflammatory activity in ankylosing spondylitis

open access: yesНаучно-практическая ревматология, 2021
IgA anti-CD74 can be a promising marker for diagnosis, assessment of activity and prognosis for ankylosing spondylitis. The aim of the study was to determine the level of IgA anti-CD74 in patients with ankylosing spondylitis and to evaluate its ...

An isoform of 14‐3‐3 protein regulates transbilayer lipid movement at the plasma membrane

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Loss of 14‐3‐3ζ in CHO cells confers resistance to exogenous phosphatidylserine (PS) and impairs endocytosis‐independent inward flip‐flop of fluorescent PS at the plasma membrane. RNAi‐mediated knockdown reproduces this defect, while no additive effect is seen in ATP11C‐deficient cells.

Septin 9 PB domains coordinate centrosome positioning and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Septin 9 polybasic domains couple phosphoinositide‐rich membrane binding to centrosome positioning, Golgi organization, and microtubule acetylation to control epithelial polarity. Their loss disrupts this axis, causing centrosome mispositioning, Golgi fragmentation, reduced microtubule acetylation, and polarity inversion via upregulation of the ...

Targeting IL-17/NF-κB/VAChT/Rho-kinase signaling and oxidative stress in exacerbated chronic allergic inflammation: functional and therapeutic implications of IL-17 blockade [PDF]

open access: yesBrazilian Journal of Medical and Biological Research
Th17 cytokines play a central role in the pathophysiology of chronic allergic pulmonary inflammation, influencing multiple signaling pathways that promote inflammation, oxidative stress, and airway remodeling.

Retrospective Comparison of the Effect of IL-17 Blocker Therapy and Anti-TNF Agent Therapy on Bone Mineral Density in Axial Spondyloartropathy Patients

open access: yesTürk Osteoporoz Dergisi, 2023
Objective:Our aim was to compare the bone mineral density (BMD) levels in axial spondyloarthropathy (AxSpA) patients treated with tumor necrosis factor-α (TNFα) agents and interleukin-17 (IL-17) blockers.Materials and Methods:This retrospective study was

Microbiome−host proteostasis crosstalk—An emerging perspective on mechanisms and interventions toward healthy longevity

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Proteostasis and the gut microbiota play a key role in shaping host physiology. Microbiota‐derived metabolites, vitamins, and RNA modulate host proteostasis. Findings from model systems, including C. elegans, indicate microbes can either stabilize or disrupt host proteostasis.

ABL kinase‐dependent phosphorylation of SH proteins promotes their direct interaction with CRK family SH2 domains

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
CT10 regulator of kinase (CRK) and CRK‐Like (CRKL) are signaling adaptors driving cell adhesion, motility, differentiation, and proliferation. SH2‐domain containing (SH) proteins are enriched in YXXP motifs which when phosphorylated create preferred binding sites for CRK family SH2 domains.

Microbiome‐blood–brain barrier interactions in aging — mechanisms and therapeutic potential

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Aging reshapes the gut microbiome (↓SCFA‐producing commensals; ↑pro‐inflammatory outputs), shifting circulating metabolites (↓SCFAs; ↑LPS, ↑TMAO, ↑PAA) that act at the BBB to increase nonspecific transcytosis, alter transport, and promote astrocyte reactivity, heightening brain vulnerability.

Structure‐forward targeting of claudins with synthetic binders

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
Claudins form the paracellular barriers between epithelial and endothelial tissues at tight junctions and are targets for molecular binders with the goal of modulating barrier permeability. Claudin‐binding molecules are relevant in drug delivery or in altering claudin interactions with disease‐causing proteins.

Leptin: a gender and obesity-related marker predictive of metabolic comorbidities and therapeutic response to anti-IL-23 biologic drugs in psoriatic patients

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
IntroductionPsoriasis is a chronic immune-mediated inflammatory skin disorder, frequently associated with comorbidities such as obesity, which can exacerbate its severity and hinder treatment efficacy. Psoriasis pathogenesis involves complex interactions
