Yap methylation‐induced FGL1 expression suppresses anti‐tumor immunity and promotes tumor progression in KRAS‐driven lung adenocarcinoma

open access: yesCancer Communications
Background Despite significant strides in lung cancer immunotherapy, the response rates for Kirsten rat sarcoma viral oncogene homolog (KRAS)‐driven lung adenocarcinoma (LUAD) patients remain limited.

Absence of Tumor Necrosis Factor Supports Alternative Activation of Macrophages in the Liver after Infection with Leishmania major

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2018
The absence of tumor necrosis factor (TNF) causes lethal infection by Leishmania major in normally resistant C57BL/6J (B6.WT) mice. The underlying pathogenic mechanism of this fatal disease has so far remained elusive.

Cotargeting TREM2 and IL2 pathways triggers multipronged anticancer immunity

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Von Locquenghien et al. report that MiTE‐144, a triggering receptor expressed on myeloid cells 2 (TREM2) blocking antibody fused to interleukin‐2 (IL2) variant with tumour microenvironment restricted activation, demonstrates superior anticancer efficiency in a preclinical setting.

A Gpr120-selective agonist improves insulin resistance and chronic inflammation in obese mice. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
It is well known that the ω-3 fatty acids (ω-3-FAs; also known as n-3 fatty acids) can exert potent anti-inflammatory effects. Commonly consumed as fish products, dietary supplements and pharmaceuticals, ω-3-FAs have a number of health benefits ascribed ...

Indoleamine 2,3‐dioxygenase 1 inhibition reverses cancer‐associated fibroblast‐mediated immunosuppression in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
CAF‐mediated immunosuppression in ovarian cancer is driven by IDO1, reducing T‐cell function. Inhibiting IDO1 restores T‐cell proliferation and cytotoxicity, increases cancer cell apoptosis, and may help overcome CAF‐induced immune suppression in high‐grade serous ovarian cancer. Targeting IDO1 may improve antitumor immunity.

Involvement of the tryptophan-kynurenine pathway in the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases

open access: yesExperimental Gerontology
The kynurenine pathway (KP), a major metabolic pathway for L-tryptophan (Trp) in mammals, plays a multifaceted role in various physiological processes, including neural activity, immune system regulation, and the maintenance of intestinal homeostasis ...

Endothelial Dysfunction and Inflammation: Immunity in Rheumatoid Arthritis

open access: yesMediators of Inflammation, 2016
Inflammation, as a feature of rheumatoid arthritis (RA), leads to the activation of endothelial cells (ECs). Activated ECs induce atherosclerosis through an increased expression of leukocyte adhesion molecules.

Sinomenine exerts anticonvulsant profile and neuroprotective activity in pentylenetetrazole kindled rats: involvement of inhibition of NLRP1 inflammasome

open access: yesJournal of Neuroinflammation, 2018
Background Epilepsy is a common neurological disorder and is not well controlled by available antiepileptic drugs (AEDs). Inflammation is considered to be a critical factor in the pathophysiology of epilepsy.

HSP70 governs permeability and mechanotransduction in primary human endothelial cells

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
HSP70 chemical inhibition reduces endothelial cell proliferation and increases permeability, the latter supported by normal interendothelial junctional protein distribution. HSP70 also plays a role in shear stress response, a hemodynamic force naturally present in blood vessels and correlated with vessel protection.

IL-21 promotes the anti-tumor effect of anti-CD47 chimeric antigen receptor macrophages in ovarian cancer

open access: yesCommunications Biology
Macrophages play a key role in immunity against solid tumors. However, their development and clinical applications are limited by their difficult-to-transfect nature, low proliferative capacity, and easily changing polarization states. The combination of
