Luteolin (LT), present in most plants, has potent anti-inflammatory properties both in vitro and in vivo. Furthermore, some of its derivatives, such as luteolin-7-O-glucoside, also exhibit anti-inflammatory activity.

ANTI-INFLAMMATORY ACTIVITY OF PIPERINE
Piperine (1-peperoyl piperidine) was isolated from Piper nigrum Linn for the evaluation of anti-inflammatory activity in rats. Different acute and chronic experimental models like carrageenin-induced rat paw edema, cotton pellet granuloma, and croton oil-induced granuloma pouch, were employed.

Mitochondrial permeabilization engages NF-κB-dependent anti-tumour activity under caspase deficiency [PDF]
Apoptosis represents a key anti-cancer therapeutic effector mechanism. During apoptosis, mitochondrial outer membrane permeabilization (MOMP) typically kills cells even in the absence of caspase activity.

Microwave-assisted synthesis, characterization and biological activity of novel pyrazole derivatives
A series of 1-(4-substitutedphenyl)-3-phenyl-1H-pyrazole-4-carbaldehydes 4a–l have been synthesized and tested for their biological activities. Formation of the pyrazole derivatives was achieved by treating with Vilsmeier-Haack reagent.

Anti-Inflammatory Activities of Euglena gracilis Extracts [PDF]
Dietary supplementation with nutrients able to control intestinal and systemic inflammation is of marketable interest. Indeed, gastrointestinal homeostasis plays a significant role in maintaining human health. In this setting, E. gracilis may sustain or promote human health, but the effects on the intestinal inflammatory milieu are not clear.

Anti-inflammatory activity in human plasma
Pooled human plasma contains a fraction, separable by ultrafiltration and column chromatography, which possesses anti-inflammatory activity in the carrageenan oedema test in the rat, may be partially purified by solvent extraction, has an apparent molecular weight below 1000, and is resistant to acid and proteolytic digestion.

Anti-inflammatory activity of chondroitin sulfate
The pharmacokinetics of chondroitin sulfate (CS, Condrosulf, IBSA, Lugano, Switzerland) were investigated in rats and in healthy volunteers using CS tritiated at the reducing end and CS labeled with 131I or 99mTc respectively. A rapid absorption of orally administered CS is observed in rats and in humans when the drug is dissolved in water.
