In vitro and in silico modelling of ROS1‐positive non‐small cell lung cancer reveals fusion‐dependent tyrosine kinase inhibitor responses

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Drug resistance limits treatment success in a subset of lung cancers driven by ROS1 gene alterations. Using patient‐derived cells and computer simulations, we studied three key mutations and how they affect five targeted drugs. The mutations reduced drug effectiveness in different ways by altering protein structure and behavior.

Human monoclonal antibodies to a novel cluster of conformational epitopes on HCV E2 with resistance to neutralization escape in a genotype 2a isolate [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
The majority of broadly neutralizing antibodies to hepatitis C virus (HCV) are against conformational epitopes on the E2 glycoprotein. Many of them recognize overlapping epitopes in a cluster, designated as antigenic domain B, that contains residues G530

mRNA-LNP vaccine encoding the Plasmodium vivax circumsporozoite protein is highly immunogenic and confers protection in mice

open access: yesMolecular Therapy: Nucleic Acids
Plasmodium vivax poses significant challenges to malaria control due to its relapsing nature. This study explores the immunogenicity and efficacy of nucleoside-modified mRNA-lipid nanoparticle (LNP) vaccines targeting the P.

Epigenetic silencing of the liver‐specific lncRNA LUNAR promotes liver cancer progression via NOTCH activation

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
LUNAR is a liver‐specific long noncoding RNA (lncRNA) that is highly expressed in normal liver but becomes epigenetically silenced in hepatocellular carcinoma through promoter hypermethylation. Loss of LUNAR is associated with NOTCH activation, epithelial–mesenchymal transition, and metastasis, whereas restoring LUNAR restrains metastatic progression ...

The effect of immunization schedule with the malaria vaccine candidate RTS,S/AS01E on protective efficacy and anti-circumsporozoite protein antibody avidity in African infants [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
The malaria vaccine RTS,S induces antibodies against the Plasmodium falciparum circumsporozoite protein (CSP) and the concentration of Immunoglobulin G (IgG) against the repeat region of CSP following vaccination is associated with protection from P ...

COVID-19 vaccination induces cross-reactive dengue virus antibodies with altered isotype profiles and in vitro antibody-dependent enhancement

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
BackgroundSARS-CoV-2 infection and COVID-19 vaccination can induce antibodies that cross-react with dengue virus (DENV). Pre-existing IgG antibodies against DENV are known to enhance infection through antibody-dependent enhancement (ADE) via Fcγ ...

CEACAM1 participation in breast cancer progression

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In invasive breast cancer (BC), CEACAM1 shifts from an apical to a uniform membranous/cytoplasmic pattern, or is lost, as tumors dedifferentiate, inversely tracking the Ki‐67 proliferative index. In MCF‐7 cells, only CEACAM1‐4L suppresses proliferation, repressing cell cycle and growth factor genes.

The Utility of serological markers in inflammatory bowel diseases: Gadget or magic? [PDF]

open access: yes, 2008
The panel of serologic markers for inflammatory bowel diseases (IBD) is rapidly expanding. Anti–Saccharomyces cerevisiae antibodies (ASCA) and atypical perinuclear antineutrophil cytoplasmic antibodies (P-ANCA) remain the most widely investigated ...

Studies on the production, characterisation and applications of monoclonal antibodies and antibody-based conjugates [PDF]

open access: yes, 1994
The work described in this thesis involved the production of antibodies to several defined antigens and the chemical synthesis of bispecific antibodies. Monoclonal antibodies against glial fibrillary acidic protein (anti-GFAP), and against a GFAP-like

Pharmacological chromatin remodeling enhances response to estrogen therapy in ER+ breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Estrogen therapy elicits clinical benefit in ~ 30% of patients with endocrine‐resistant estrogen receptor (ER)‐positive breast cancer. Based on findings that ER transcriptional activation underlies response to estrogen therapy, we tested the effects of epigenetic dysregulation via pharmacological inhibition of histone deacetylases (HDACi).
