Mimic, target, and adapt: Cell membrane‐coated nanoplatforms for precision and immune‐guided cancer treatment

open access: yesBMEMat, EarlyView.
This Perspective explores the emerging landscape of cell membrane‐coated nanoparticles (CM‐NPs) as intelligent, immune‐compatible platforms for cancer therapy. Highlighting design strategies, translational challenges, and competitive positioning, it outlines how integrating biomimetic targeting with advanced analytical and manufacturing tools could ...

Factors associated with dyslipidemia in seropositive patients for human immunodeficiency virus. Fadevic study.

open access: yesRevista Ciencias Biomédicas, 2012
Introduction: with the argument of life expectancy of the people affected by HIV/AIDS, new challenges of health emerged. The dyslipidemias, in special, are presentedas a complication of the infection by the virus and the antiretroviral treatment(ARV). In

Hemophilia A: An Ideal Disease for Prenatal Therapy

open access: yesPrenatal Diagnosis, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Hemophilia A (HA) is the most common inherited coagulation defect. Current state‐of‐the‐art treatment consists of frequent administration of prophylactic infusions of coagulation factor VIII (FVIII) protein or bispecific antibodies that replace the cofactor function of FVIIIa to maintain hemostasis. However, these treatments are far from ideal,

Evaluation of the Impact of Anti-Retroviral Therapy on the Prevalence of Oral Lesions in Human Immunodeficiency Virus Infected Patients

open access: yesپزشکی بالینی ابن سینا, 2013
Introduction & Objective: Oral lesions have important diagnostic and prognostic roles in HIV infected patients. It seems that HAART reduces the prevalence of oral lesions. The aim of the present study was to evaluate the prevalence of oral lesions in HIV

[Study of interactions between anti-retroviral agents and concomitant drugs].

open access: yesFarmacia hospitalaria : organo oficial de expresion cientifica de la Sociedad Espanola de Farmacia Hospitalaria, 2003
Clinical efficacy of antiretroviral treatment requires drugs to maintain a plasma concentration over MIC90. One of the facts that can prevent drugs from reaching and maintaining required concentrations are pharmacological drug interactions. The aim of this study is to identify the main interactions between antiretroviral medicines and concomitant ...

Disruption of iron metabolism resulting from Dmt1/Slc11a2 deficiency compromises Notch protein degradation and transcriptional activation

open access: yesThe FEBS Journal, EarlyView.
Divalent metal transporter 1 (Dmt1) maintains iron homeostasis and lysosomal proteostasis required for physiological Notch receptor–ligand signaling. Dmt1 loss lowers iron storage capacity (ferritin), increasing intracellular Fe2+, driving ROS and lipid peroxidation, and leading to lysosomal/mitochondrial dysfunction.

Risk of severe bacterial infections including TB before and after immediate or deferred antiretroviral therapy: A multicenter, prospective, cohort study

open access: yesInternational Journal of Infectious Diseases
Objectives: Deferring antiretroviral therapy (ART) until a CD4 count below cells/mm3 or other clinical indication in people with HIV (PWH) carries an increased risk of severe bacterial infections and tuberculosis (TB).

A Tale of Two Conditions: 50 Years of Chronic Illness and Cancer From a Nursing Perspective

open access: yesJournal of Advanced Nursing, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction In this commentary, I consider the disparity between the care we see as a necessity for cancer patients and the lack of care we afford to many persons with chronic disease. Background I ground my arguments in my own clinical practice and research experiences over a 50‐year period augmented by reference to available literature ...

Indirect comparison of 48-week efficacy and safety of long-acting cabotegravir and rilpivirine maintenance every 8 weeks with daily oral standard of care antiretroviral therapy in participants with virologically suppressed HIV-1-infection

open access: yesBMC Infectious Diseases, 2022
Background Efficacy and safety of long-acting cabotegravir (CAB) + rilpivirine (RPV) every 8 weeks (Q8W) versus daily oral standard of care (SoC) maintenance in treatment-experienced individuals with virologically suppressed human immunodeficiency virus ...
