Mechanisms and Management of Antibiotic‐Associated Diarrhea [PDF]

open access: yesClinical Infectious Diseases, 1998
Only 10%-20% of all cases of antibiotic-associated diarrhea (AAD) are caused by infection with Clostridium difficile. Other infectious organisms causing AAD include Clostridium perfringens, Staphylococcus aureus, Klebsiella oxytoca, Candida species, and Salmonella species.

Bacterial Characteristics in Intestinal Contents of Antibiotic-Associated Diarrhea Mice Treated with Qiweibaizhu Powder

open access: yesMedical Science Monitor, 2020
Background Qiweibaizhu powder (QWBZP) is a classical prescription of traditional Chinese medicine (TCM) to treat diarrhea in pediatric patients. Its use in health care practices and interventions has shown its effect on antibiotic-associated diarrhea ...

Injectable Stimuli‐Responsive Amphiphilic Hydrogel for Rapid Hemostasis, Robust Tissue Adhesion, and Controlled Drug Delivery in Trauma and Surgical Care

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Fast‐acting hydrogel seals bleeding wounds as the illustrated injectable, pH‐responsive network rapidly gels in situ to stop hemorrhage, adhere strongly to wet tissue, and release antibiotics in a controlled, pH‐dependent manner. The material withstands high pressures, shows excellent biocompatibility, and degrades safely, offering a versatile platform

COMBINED THERAPY OF ANTIBIOTIC-ASSOCIATED DIARRHEA IN CHILDREN

open access: yesПедиатрическая фармакология, 2011
The most important component in the treatment of children with infectious and inflammatory diseases is antibiotics. However, widespread, and sometimes not enough justified use of antibiotics often leads to complications, among which a violation of the ...

Organization of aerobactin, hemolysin, and antibacterial resistance genes in lactose negative Escherichia coli strains of serotype O4 isolated from children with dhiarrea [PDF]

open access: yes, 1992
Epidemiologically related, non-lactose-fermenting (NLF) Escherichia coli strains of serotype O4 have been isolated at a high frequency from children with diarrhea in Somalia (M. Nicoletti, F. Superti, C. Conti, A. Calconi, and C. Zagaglia, J.

Wound Geometry Determines Whether Aligned‐Fiber Scaffolds Accelerate or Impede Diabetic Wound Healing: A Biased Random Walk Analysis

open access: yesAdvanced Healthcare Materials, EarlyView.
Wound closure is governed by geometry‐orientation coupling: aligned fibers speed migration along their axis but hinder perpendicular advance. In vivo diabetic wound experiments with composition‐matched fibrin, combined with an anisotropic diffusion (biased random‐walk) model, quantify this trade‐off and generate a healing landscape.
