Impact of Selective Reporting of Antibiotic Susceptibility Test Results on Antibiotic Use in Patients with Bloodstream Infection with Streptococcus pneumoniae

open access: yesBiomedicine Hub
Introduction: Invasive pneumococcal disease is a major cause of morbidity and mortality in infectious diseases. Selective reporting of antibiotic susceptibility test results might lead to a tailored antibiotic therapy and could therefore be an important ...

Current antibiotic sensitivity of Lactococcus garvieae in rainbow trout (Oncorhynchus mykiss) farms from Southwestern Turkey

open access: yesJournal of Agricultural Sciences, 2023
The continuity of antimicrobial resistance development in bacteria changes the type and dose of effective antibiotic treatments and makes routine monitoring studies necessary for successful control of bacterial diseases. This study was aimed to determine

Antibiotic Susceptibility of Pseudomonas pseudomallei [PDF]

open access: yesAntimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, 1973
The in vitro activity of various antibiotics against Pseudomonas pseudomallei was studied. The tetracyclines were the most active, followed by gentamicin, kanamycin, novobiocin, chloramphenicol, rifampin, cycloserine, erythromycin, and ampicillin.

Determination of antimicrobial susceptibilities on infected urines without isolation [PDF]

open access: yes, 1979
A method is described for the quick determination of the susceptibilities of various unidentified bacteria contained in an aqueous physiological fluid sample, particularly urine, to one or more antibiotics.

When good bugs go bad: Epidemiology and antimicrobial resistance profiles of Corynebacterium striatum, an emerging multidrug-resistant, opportunistic pathogen [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Infections with Corynebacterium striatum have been described in the literature over the last 2 decades, with the majority being bacteremia, central line infections, and occasionally, endocarditis.

Rethinking plastic waste: innovations in enzymatic breakdown of oil‐based polyesters and bioplastics

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Plastic pollution remains a critical environmental challenge, and current mechanical and chemical recycling methods are insufficient to achieve a fully circular economy. This review highlights recent breakthroughs in the enzymatic depolymerization of both oil‐derived polyesters and bioplastics, including high‐throughput protein engineering, de novo ...

Targeting TNBC: core–shell polycationic polyurea dendrimers with inherent anticancer activity

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
Core–shell polycationic PURE dendrimers were tested in TNBC‐derived tumor models. Both formulations selectively targeted TNBC and effectively reduced tumor volume. PUREG4‐OEI48 suppressed tumor growth without detectable toxicity, whereas PUREG4‐OCEI24, despite showing efficacy, induced hepatic toxicity.

Metabolic mutations reduce antibiotic susceptibility of E. coli by pathway-specific bottlenecks

open access: yesMolecular Systems Biology
Metabolic variation across pathogenic bacterial strains can impact their susceptibility to antibiotics and promote the evolution of antimicrobial resistance (AMR).

Antibiotic Susceptibility of Chlamydia trachomatis [PDF]

open access: yesAntimicrobial Agents and Chemotherapy, 1977
The antibiotic susceptibility of Chlamydia trachomatis isolates was determined in a tissue culture system. Representatives of all currently recognized serotypes of trachoma-inclusion conjunctivitis agents were tested.
