Transplantation of antibody producing cells or their precursors by parabiosis

Life Sciences, 1963
Abstract Evidence is presented for the transplantation of an immunologically conditioned cell by parabiosis. The transplantation of such a cell appears not to be related to irradiation of the non-immunized member of the pair.

The Immunomodulatory Action of Dexamethasone on Monoclonal Antibody-Producing Hybridoma Cells

Hybridoma and Hybridomics, 2002
As found in different studies, glucocorticoid hormones (GCs) as well as interleukin-6 (IL-6) are involved in the modulation of protein glycosylation. In this work we have investigated the immunomodulatory effect of dexamethasone by assessing in vitro IgG glycosylation by monoclonal antibody-producing hybridoma cells. As described in myeloma cell lines,

Human:Mouse Antibody-Producing Transfectoma Cell Lines

1985
A new means to generate antibodies (Ab’s) with desired antigen-specificities and biological effector functions is to create transfectoma Ab-producing cell lines. These cell lines are derived from lymphoid cell lines that have been transfected with novel immunoglobulin genes using DNA-mediated gene transfer techniques.

Effect of streptomycin on antibody-producing cells in the spleen of albino mice

Folia Microbiologica, 1968
The effect of streptomycin on the number of cells involved in immunogenesis during the first ten days after antigenic stimulation was studied in relation to the dose of streptomycin. The results were read by means of Jerne and Nordin’s plaque technique, as modified by Sterzl.

Changes in antibody producing cells in the spleen during the primary response

Experimental and Molecular Pathology, 1965
Abstract In rabbits given complete Freund's adjuvant or complete adjuvant and diphtheria toxoid there were two types of cells in the spleen which contained antibody and gamma globulin. Non-phagocytic mononuclear cells containing 19S γ 1M antibody and gamma globulin were associated with the appearance and level of circulating 19S γ 1M globulin ...

A Microfilter Assay for the Detection of Antibody-Producing Cells In Vitro

1985
The haemolytic plaque assay introduced by Jerne and Nordin (1963) has been the most widely used test system for enumeration of specific antibody-secreting cells (ASC). This system was originally developed to detect cells secreting complement binding antibodies against erythrocytes which eventually resulted in lysis of the red target cells.

Specific Antibacterial Antibody-Producing Cells in Human Nasal Mucosa

1987
Recurrent infections of the rhinopharyngeal area, common in young children, are elusive to most classical therapies. The use of local vaccines to enhance local immunity has been proposed since the sixties. Although these immunomodulators have been widely used, their mechanisms of action remain disputed.

Purification of Monoclonal Antibodies Produced by Animal Cells in Culture

1998
Monoclonal antibodies are the most common proteins produced by animal cells in culture. They have numerous applications as diagnostics, therapeutics and as basic research tools. The purification of an antibody from the cell culture supernatant or ascites is necessary for most applications.
