γδ T cells affect IL-4 production and B-cell tolerance [PDF]

open access: yes, 2014
γδ T cells can influence specific antibody responses. Here, we report that mice deficient in individual γδ T-cell subsets have altered levels of serum antibodies, including all major subclasses, sometimes regardless of the presence of αβ T cells.

Neutrophil deficiency increases T cell numbers at the site of tissue injury in mice

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
In wild‐type mice, injury or acute inflammation induces neutrophil influx followed by macrophage accumulation. Mcl1ΔMyelo (neutrophil‐deficient) mice lack neutrophils, and in response to muscle injury show fewer macrophages and exhibit strikingly elevated T‐cell numbers, primarily non‐conventional “double‐negative” (DN) αβ and γδ T cells.

Anti-IFN-γ Antibody Promotes Osteoclastogenesis in Human Bone Marrow Monocyte-Derived Macrophages Co-Cultured with Tuberculosis-Activated Th1 Cells

open access: yesCellular Physiology and Biochemistry, 2018
Background/Aims: Tuberculosis induces bone loss and activates Th1 cells that play an important role in the host defense of Bacille Calmette-Guérin tuberculosis vaccine.

Crucial role of local peroxynitrite formation in neutrophil-induced endothelial cell activation [PDF]

open access: yes, 2003
Introduction and methods: The reaction of superoxide anions and NO not only results in a decreased availability of NO, but also leads to the formation of peroxynitrite, the role of which in the cardiovascular system is still discussed controversially. In

The regulation of T cell-dependent antibody formation in vitro by CD40 ligand and IL-2.

open access: yesJournal of Immunology, 1993
Our study demonstrates the central role for the murine CD40 ligand and IL-2 in contact-dependent T cell help for Ag-specific primary antibody responses in vitro.

The cytochrome oxidase defect in ISC‐depleted yeast is caused by impaired iron–sulfur cluster maturation of the mitoribosome assembly factor Rsm22

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
The yeast mitoribosome assembly factor Rsm22 contains a [4Fe‐4S] cluster that is matured by the mitochondrial iron–sulfur cluster assembly (ISC) machinery. Defects in ISC components result in impaired mitochondrial protein synthesis due to a mitoribosome assembly defect.

Role of Osteocytes in Myeloma Bone Disease: Anti-sclerostin Antibody as New Therapeutic Strategy

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology, 2018
Osteocytes are terminally differentiated cells of the osteoblast lineage. They are involved in the regulation of bone remodeling by increasing osteoclast formation or decreasing bone formation by the secretion of the osteoblast inhibitor sclerostin ...

In Vivo Fluorescence Imaging of E-Selectin: Quantitative Detection of Endothelial Activation in Arthritis [PDF]

open access: yes, 2010
Rheumatoid arthritis (RA) is a chronic progressive systemic inflammatory disease, characterized by synovial inflammation and localized destruction of cartilage and bone.

The missense mutation Arg593 --> Cys is related to antibody formation in a patient with mild hemophilia A.

open access: yesBlood, 1997
The development of inhibitory antibodies to factor VIII in patients affected by a mild form of hemophilia A (factor VIII > 0.05 IU/mL) is considered a rare event. In this study, we evaluated the relationship between genotype and anti-factor VIII antibody

C‐mannosylation promotes ADAMTS1 activation and secretion in human testicular germ cell tumor NEC8 cells

open access: yesFEBS Letters, EarlyView.
C‐mannosylation is a unique form of protein glycosylation. In this study, we demonstrated that ADAMTS1 is C‐mannosylated at Trp562 and Trp565 in human testicular germ cell tumor NEC8 cells. We found that C‐mannosylation of ADAMTS1 is essential for its secretion, processing, enzymatic activity, and ability to promote vasculogenic mimicry. These findings
