Longevity of antibody responses is associated with distinct antigen-specific B cell subsets early after infection

open access: yesFrontiers in Immunology
IntroductionUpon infection, T cell-driven B cell responses in GC reactions induce memory B cells and antibody-secreting cells that secrete protective antibodies. How formation of specifically long-lived plasma cells is regulated via the interplay between

Endoglin mediates the tumor‐ and metastasis‐promoting traits of stromal myofibroblasts in human breast carcinomas

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Carcinoma‐associated fibroblasts (CAFs) in tumors influence cancer progression. We identified endoglin (ENG) as a key factor in TGF‐β signaling in myofibroblastic CAFs (myCAFs), linked to poor breast cancer outcomes. Inhibiting ENG on myCAFs suppressed the TGF‐β‐Smad2/3 pathway, reducing primary tumor growth and metastasis.

Origins of the avian neural crest: the role of neural plate-epidermal interactions [PDF]

open access: yes, 1995
We have investigated the lineage and tissue interactions that result in avian neural crest cell formation from the ectoderm. Presumptive neural plate was grafted adjacent to non-neural ectoderm in whole embryo culture to examine the role of tissue ...

Chimeric diphtheria toxin–CCL8 cytotoxic peptide for breast cancer management

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
DTCCL8 is a recombinant fusion toxin that targets cancer cells expressing chemokine receptors. By combining diphtheria toxin with CCL8, DTCCL8 binds to multiple receptors on tumor cells and induces selective cytotoxicity. This strategy enables receptor‐mediated targeting of cancer and may support the development of chemokine‐guided therapeutics ...

Suppression of renal crystal formation, inflammation, and fibrosis by blocking oncostatin M receptor β signaling

open access: yesScientific Reports
Oncostatin M (OSM) has pleiotropic effects on various inflammatory diseases, including kidney stone disease. The prevalence of kidney stones has increased worldwide, despite recent therapeutic advances, due to its high recurrence rate, suggesting the ...

ITGAV and SMAD4 influence the progression and clinical outcome of pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
In SMAD4‐positive pancreatic ductal adenocarcinoma (PDAC), integrin subunit alpha V (ITGAV) activates latent TGF‐β, which binds to the TGF‐β receptor and phosphorylates SMAD2/3. The activated SMAD2/3 forms a complex with SMAD4, and together they translocate to the nucleus, modulating gene expression to promote proliferation, migration, and invasion. In
