Targeting pepsin provides superior protection to acid suppression in reflux‐associated airway inflammation and lung dysfunction

open access: yesExperimental Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract Gastro‐oesophageal reflux disease is a prevalent condition associated with extra‐oesophageal manifestations, such as pulmonary inflammation. Pepsin, an essential gastric enzyme, has been implicated in pulmonary complications owing to its inflammatory effects.

Amyloid β alters vascular CaV1.2 channel spatiotemporal properties

open access: yesThe Journal of Physiology, EarlyView.
Abstract figure legend Amyloid‐β1‐42 (Aβ1‐42) triggers a male‐specific signalling cascade influencing CaV1.2 spatiotemporal properties in cerebral vascular smooth muscle. The signalling pathway involves NADPH oxidase (NOX)‐derived reactive oxygen species (ROS) activation of protein kinase C (PKC). Aβ1‐42 can also activate protein kinase A (PKA).

Therapeutic Apheresis in Nigeria: A Multi‐Center Summary of Abstracts From the Inaugural Nigerian Society for Apheresis Scientific Meeting

open access: yesTherapeutic Apheresis and Dialysis, Volume 30, Issue 6, Page 801-809, December 2026.
ABSTRACT Background Therapeutic apheresis (TA) is an established treatment modality for hematologic, neurologic, and immunologic disorders, yet access remains severely limited in sub‐Saharan Africa. Donor apheresis, including platelet apheresis collection from healthy donors, represents an important complementary modality supporting blood product ...

The Place of Therapeutic Apheresis in Severe Immune‐Related Adverse Events: A Scoping Review of Literature

open access: yesJournal of Clinical Apheresis, Volume 41, Issue 6, December 2026.
ABSTRACT Immune checkpoint inhibitors (ICIs) have revolutionized the management of patients with cancer. However, they can induce breakdowns in immunologic tolerance, leading to autoimmune diseases, or immune related adverse events (irAEs). These irAEs can sometimes be life threatening, requiring aggressive management, such as immunosuppressant (IS) or

Calcineurin Inhibitor–Free, mTOR‐Based Immunosuppression in Chimeric Antigen Receptor T‐Cell Therapy for Post‐Transplant Lymphoproliferative Disorder

open access: yeseJHaem, Volume 7, Issue 6, December 2026.
ABSTRACT Introduction Relapsed/refractory post‐transplant lymphoproliferative disorder (PTLD) remains a challenging complication after solid organ transplantation (SOT), requiring complex balancing of immune‐suppressive therapy (IST) and lymphoma‐directed therapies. Methods We report the case of a 40‐year‐old female kidney‐pancreas transplant recipient

Synergistic Regulation of Biomaterials and Macrophages: A Novel Paradigm in Immunotherapy

open access: yesMedComm – Biomaterials and Applications, Volume 5, Issue 4, December 2026.
Bioengineered materials mediating the modulation of macrophage plasticity and inflammatory signals in the tumor microenvironment effectively remodel immunoregulatory states, boost antitumor immunity, and promote tissue repair, achieving synergistic therapeutic outcomes.

The novel regulatory influence of Argonaute 1 on messenger RNA 5‐methylcytosine modification in Arabidopsis thaliana

open access: yesThe Plant Genome, Volume 19, Issue 4, December 2026.
Abstract 5‐Methylcytidine (m5C) modifications play a critical role in RNA metabolism. TRM4B (tRNA‐specific methytransferase 4B) is the only known component of the plant m5C machinery that mediates mRNA (messenger RNA) methylation. To date, no regulators governing site‐specific m5C modifications have been identified, apart from several degenerated ...

Antibody-mediated rejection in the liver allograft

open access: yesCurrent Opinion in Organ Transplantation, 2012
Purpose of review There is increasing evidence to suggest that antibody-mediated mechanisms play a role in the pathogenesis of liver allograft rejection. This article will review the pathology of antibody-mediated rejection (AMR) focusing on recent studies which have improved our understanding of the clinicopathological ...

Antibody-Mediated Organ-Allograft Rejection

Nature Reviews Immunology, 2005
Recent studies show that alloantibodies mediate a substantial proportion of graft-rejection episodes, contributing to both early and late graft loss. Rejection that is caused by antibody is mediated by different mechanisms from rejection that is caused by T cells, thereby requiring other approaches to treatment and prevention.
