Self-care behaviours in older adults treated with oral anticancer agents: A qualitative descriptive study

open access: yes, 2022
Purpose: Older adults treated with oral anticancer agents may have several needs related to managing their treatment at home. Moreover, the experiences of older adults engaging in self-care have been poorly investigated.

IMPDH inhibition enhances cytarabine efficacy in SAMHD1‐expressing leukaemia cells via guanine nucleotide depletion

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Cytarabine is a key therapy for acute myeloid leukaemia (AML), but its efficacy is limited by the dNTPase SAMHD1, which hydrolyses its active metabolite. Screening nucleotide biosynthesis inhibitors revealed that IMPDH inhibitors selectively sensitise SAMHD1‐proficient AML cells to cytarabine.

Protein kinases as therapeutic targets to develop anticancer drugs with natural alkaloids

open access: yesFrontiers in Bioscience-Landmark, 2021
Backgroud: Protein kinases play an important role in cell proliferation, differentiation, mobility and cell cycle arrest etc. These enzymes act as important targets in developing anticancer agents.

Pretubulysin: from hypothetical biosynthetic intermediate to potential lead in tumor therapy. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2012
Pretubulysin is a natural product that is found in strains of myxobacteria in only minute amounts. It represents the first enzyme-free intermediate in the biosynthesis of tubulysins and undergoes post-assembly acylation and oxidation reactions ...

Establishment of a humanized patient‐derived xenograft mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer for preclinical evaluation of combination immunotherapy

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
We have established a humanized orthotopic patient‐derived xenograft (Hu‐oPDX) mouse model of high‐grade serous ovarian cancer (HGSOC) that recapitulates human tumor–immune interactions. Using combined anti‐PD‐L1/anti‐CD73 immunotherapy, we demonstrate the model's improved biological relevance and enhanced translational value for preclinical ...

Hippo pathway at the crossroads of stemness and therapeutic resistance in breast cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Dysregulation of the Hippo pathway drives nuclear accumulation of YAP/TAZ, activating stemness‐related transcriptional programs that sustain breast cancer stemness and fuel therapeutic resistance across subtypes, underscoring Hippo signaling as a targetable vulnerability. Figure created and edited with BioRender.com.

A review on anticancer applications of pullulan and pullulan derivative nanoparticles

open access: yesCarbohydrate Polymer Technologies and Applications, 2021
In spite of the widespread study on anticancer delivery systems, various difficulties still persist on how to produce a suitable vehicle or carrier that can deliver anticancer agents to particular positions in the human body to aim cancerous tissues or ...

CD47 promotes mitogen‐activated protein kinase and epithelial‐to‐mesenchymal transition molecular programs to drive prometastatic phenotypes in non‐small cell lung cancer

open access: yesMolecular Oncology, EarlyView.
Beyond its role in immune evasion, this study identified that CD47 drives tumor‐intrinsic signaling in non‐small cell lung cancer (NSCLC). Transcriptomic profiling and functional studies revealed that CD47 regulates cell adhesion, migration, and metastasis through an ERK–EMT signaling axis.

Iridium(III) Complexes Targeting Apoptotic Cell Death in Cancer Cells

open access: yesMolecules, 2019
Targeting apoptosis is a principal strategy in the design of anticancer drugs. In recent years, non-platinum-based scaffolds have been exploited as viable candidates for the exploitation of anticancer agents with potentially lower toxicity than the ...
