Tricyclic Neovibsanin Scaffold (TCNS) as an Effective Antidepressant Agent

Drug Research, 2015
Neovibsanin type natural products were found to display neurite outgrowth activity in PC12 cells. This suggests that such type of compounds could be promising candidates for the development of novel therapeutic agents to treat neurological diseases.

Anticonvulsant hypersensitivity syndrome: cross-reactivity with tricyclic antidepressant agents

Annals of Allergy, Asthma & Immunology, 2006
Aromatic anticonvulsant agents such as carbamazepine and phenytoin can induce anticonvulsant hypersensitivity syndrome (AHS) at a frequency of 1 in 10,000 to 1 in 1,000 treated patients. The hypersensitivity syndrome is a potentially life-threatening adverse drug reaction with multiorgan involvement, and incidental reexposure must be strictly avoided ...

Combined intoxication with a tricyclic antidepressive agent and a neuroleptic.

European journal of emergency medicine : official journal of the European Society for Emergency Medicine, 1997
We report the case of a patient who co-ingested a tricyclic antidepressant (2500 mg of doxepin) and a neuroleptic drug (3500 mg of prothipendyl). Following overdose either agent can affect the central nervous and cardiovascular systems, inducing arrhythmias, conduction disturbances and hypotension.
