Clomipramine inhibited pressor responses to potassium ions and vasopressin in the rat mesenteric vascular bed with an ID50 of about 1.8 microgram/ml against both pressor agents and the actions of indomethacin and PG2 on the clomipramine effect suggested that the drug may have been antagonising the action of an endogenous PG.

Antidepressants II: tricyclic agents
2002Abstract Tricyclic antidepressants (TCA) were first synthesized in the 1940s by chemists looking for drugs to act as sedatives, antihistamines, and anti-parkinsonian drugs (Baldessarini, 1996). Use in depression was first reported in the late 1950s, and hundreds of studies have confirmed their effectiveness in adult populations.

Combined intoxication with tricyclic antidepressive and neuroleptic agents.
1996We report the case of a patient who co-ingested a tricyclic antidepressant (2500 mg of doxepin) and a neuroleptic drug (3500 mg of prothipendyl). Following overdose either agent can affect the central nervous and cardiovascular systems, inducing arrhythmias, conduction disturbances and hypotension.
