Supramolecular Assembly of Triterpenoids: Current State and Biomedical Perspectives

open access: yesAggregate, EarlyView.
Triterpenoids serve as both exceptional molecular motifs for supramolecular assembly and versatile therapeutic agents, offering broad biological functions to improve health outcomes and enhance treatment efficacy. This review comprehensively summarizes recent advances in triterpenoid‐based supramolecular systems, including their roles as functional ...

Cellpose+, a Morphological Analysis Tool for Feature Extraction of Stained Cell Images

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Discovery, EarlyView.
We introduce Cellpose plus, a morphological and geometrical analysis tool for feature extraction of stained cell images built over Cellpose, a state‐of‐the‐art cell segmentation framework. We also introduce a dataset of DAPI and FITC stained cells to which our new method is applied.

Solid‐State NMR Reveals Reorganization of the Aspergillus fumigatus Cell Wall Due to a Host‐Defence Peptide

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Understanding the mode of action is critical to develop new antifungal drugs. Solid‐state NMR was used to study the reorganization of the Aspergillus fumigatus cell wall by a host‐defence peptide. We identified specific polysaccharides and amino acids that are affected by the peptide.

Nonribosomal peptides, key biocontrol components for Pseudomonas fluorescens In5, isolated from a Greenlandic suppressive soil. [PDF]

open access: yes, 2015
UnlabelledPotatoes are cultivated in southwest Greenland without the use of pesticides and with limited crop rotation. Despite the fact that plant-pathogenic fungi are present, no severe-disease outbreaks have yet been observed.

Multi‐Module Micro/Nanorobots for Biomedical and Environmental Remediation Applications

open access: yesAdvanced Intelligent Systems, EarlyView.
Multi‐module microrobots (MNRs) have overcome the limitations of single‐module systems by integrating components such as propeller, actuator, manipulator, and imaging modalities. They show promise in biomedical applications, such as targeted drug delivery and tissue repair, as well as in environmental remediation, including pollutant removal.

Polymorphic α‐Glucans as Structural Scaffolds in Cryptococcus Cell Walls for Chitin, Capsule, and Melanin: Insights From 13C and 1H Solid‐State NMR

open access: yesAngewandte Chemie, EarlyView.
Cryptococcus neoformans cell wall α‐1,3‐glucans as dual anchors for melanin and capsule: Solid‐state NMR of intact C. neoformans cells reveals five forms of α‐1,3‐glucans that structurally bridge melanin and capsule layers. These polysaccharides interact with chitin, chitosan, and β‐glucans to create a molecular scaffold that underlies virulence and ...

Isolation, characterization and selection of Pseudomonas spp. as biological control agents from a suppressive soil [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Bacterial profile from a suppressive soil against Rosellinia necatrix, fungal pathogen of avocado roots, were obtained by 16S rRNA gene sequencing. The results revealed a significant increase in the bacterial class of Gammaproteobacteria, especially in ...

Light‐Mediated Decomposition of Arylseleninic Acids in Aqueous Medium: A Green Alternative Toward Organoselenium‐Functionalized Imidazo[1,2‐a]pyridines

open access: yesAsian Journal of Organic Chemistry, EarlyView.
A new protocol to prepare 2‐aryl‐3‐(arylselanyl)imidazo[1,2‐a]pyridines under blue light irradiation, using benzeneseleninic acid derivatives as selenium source, is described. The experimental design approach (DoE) was used to establish the best reaction conditions, which delivered fourteen derivatives in moderate to good yields (23%–75%) using water ...
