Boron‐Based Functionalities Enhance the Potency of 2,5‐Dimethylfuran‐Based IDO1 Inhibitors

open access: yesChemBioChem, EarlyView.
Indoleamine‐2,3‐dioxygenase‐1 (IDO1), a key immunoregulatory enzyme, is inhibited by novel boron derivatives (closo‐1,2‐ and 1,7‐carborane, boronic acids and esters, and benzoxaboroles) of 2,5‐dimethylfuran, each displaying low μM affinity for the human recombinant enzyme.

Biosynthesis of the Fungal Cyclic Lipodepsipeptide Pleosporacin, a New Selective Inhibitor of the Phytopathogen Botrytis cinerea

open access: yesChemBioChem, EarlyView.
Bioactivity‐guided isolation led to the discovery of a potent and selective inhibitor of the phytopathogen Botrytis cinerea, pleosporacin (1), from mycelia extracts of the fungal strain Pleosporales sp. IBWF 020‐21. The biosynthesis of the nonribosomal cyclic lipodepsipeptide 1 was elucidated via heterologous reconstitution in Aspergillus oryzae ...

Advances in Mechanochemical Methods for One‐Pot Multistep Organic Synthesis

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, EarlyView.
This review highlights recent advances in mechanochemical methods for multistep organic synthesis, focusing on sequential one‐pot approaches performed by grinding or ball milling. The presented transformations are discussed in terms of efficiency, applicability, and sustainability, assessing both the challenges and potential of solvent‐free one‐pot ...

A ketol‐acid reductoisomerase inhibitor that has antituberculosis and herbicidal activity.

open access: yesChemistry – A European Journal, Accepted Article.
Ketol‐acid reductoisomerase (KARI) is a target for the development of new biocidal agents. This is based on its essential role in branched chain amino acid biosynthesis in plants and microorganisms, and its absence in animals. The lack of success in developing KARI inhibitors as biocides may be because the inhibitors assessed to date compete directly ...
