Toxic Evaluations of Calea phyllolepis Extracts Standardized on 6‐epi‐β‐Verbesinol Coumarate and Its In Silico Prediction of the Toxicity

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, EarlyView.
In vivo and in silico toxicological effects of Calea phyllolepis extracts Standardized on 6‐epi‐β‐Verbesinol Coumarate. ABSTRACT Medicinal plants are traditionally used in folk medicine. Still, there is a misconception about the safety/efficacy of natural treatments, which results in few studies on the toxic, genotoxic, and mutagenic potential of ...

Carum carvi and Ormenis multicaulis Extracts: Chemical Analysis and In Vivo Experiments to Evaluate the Synergistic Analgesic and Anti‐Inflammatory Effects

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The purpose of the present investigation was to determine the effects of combination of Ormenis multicaulis dry flower methanolic extracts and Carum carvi seed methanolic extracts on pain and inflammation, compared to their use separately. High‐performance liquid chromatography (HPLC) analysis of methanolic extracts showed the presence of ...

Plinia cauliflora Leaf Extract Promotes Wound Healing Through Anti‐Inflammatory, Antioxidant, and Antibacterial Actions

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Plinia cauliflora (DC.) Kausel (jabuticaba) is traditionally used by Brazilian indigenous communities for therapeutic purposes, including the treatment of wounds and inflammation. This study investigated the phytochemical composition and biological activities of an ethanolic extract derived from P.

Exploring the Antiproliferative Activity of Flavolignans From the Leaves of Casearia arborea (Salicaceae)

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT The Casearia genus (Salicaceae) is well known as a source of natural antitumor prototypes, as described for clerodane diterpenes. In this way, the dichloromethane phase from leaves of Casearia arborea was phytochemically evaluated in liquid chromatography coupled to high‐resolution mass spectrometry, furnishing flavonoid, flavolignan, and ...

Synthesis, In Silico, and Biological Evaluation of Non‐Hydroxamate Benzoic Acid–Based Derivatives as Potential Histone Deacetylase Inhibitors (HDACi)

open access: yesChemistry &Biodiversity, EarlyView.
Compound A3bn exhibited strong binding affinities for HDAC2, HDAC6, and HDAC8. A3bn’s anticancer IC50 values were similar to those of SAHA. Cell death resulted from the extrinsic apoptotic pathway. Compound A3bn, a hydrophilic linker, which promotes zinc coordination, may be the cause of its increased activity across HDAC isoforms. ABSTRACT Unregulated
