Prevention of Joint Destruction in Antigen-Induced Arthritis

Clinical Immunology and Immunopathology, 1994
In rheumatoid arthritis (RA) erosive joint changes are the dominating cause of chronic disability. In a cohort of patients with RA followed from early stages of the disease, we have observed a much larger prevalence of destructions in hips than in knee joints. The latter were frequently injected with triamcinolone hexacetonide in contrast to the former.

MRI of Antigen-Induced Arthritis in Rabbits

Academic Radiology, 2002
Seven adult New Zealand White rabbits were sensitized twice by subcutaneous injection of 10mg ovalbumin. At 14day post-immunization and 1-week before imaging, they were challenged intra-articularly with ovalbumin (left knee) or saline (right knee, as a control).

Histomorphometry in antigen‐induced arthritis of the rabbit temporomandibular joint

Journal of Oral Pathology & Medicine, 2014
BackgroundJuvenile idiopathic arthritis (JIA) of the temporomandibular joint (TMJ) can cause severe growth disturbances of the craniomandibular system. Antigen‐induced arthritis (AIA) of the rabbit TMJ is simulating the inflammatory process of the TMJ in JIA.

Prevention of antigen-induced arthritis in rats by oral administration of the inducing antigen

Scandinavian Journal of Clinical and Laboratory Investigation, 1996
We investigated the effect of oral administration of methylated bovine serum albumin (mBSA) on antigen-induced arthritis (AIA) in rats that was induced by immunization with mBSA followed by the intra-articular injection of the same antigen. The results showed that the development of AIA was suppressed in a dose-dependent manner by orally given mBSA ...

Amelioration of murine antigen-induced arthritis by dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA)

Inflammation Research, 2004
Sex hormones have immunomodulatory properties and may play an important role in the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases like rheumatoid arthritis (RA). This study sought to examine the effects of the natural weak androgen dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA) and its metabolite androstenediol (AED) on the development of murine antigen-induced arthritis (AIA ...

Intra-Articular 5-Fluorouracil in Antigen-Induced Arthritis

The Journal of Bone & Joint Surgery, 1971
A model system has been described in which a single injection of Ovalbumin into the knee joints of previously sensitized rabbits consistently produced a chronic, self-perpetuating reaction which was grossly and histologically similar to human rheumatoid arthritis.

Reversal of antigen-induced resistance to collagen arthritis by cyclophosphamide

Clinical Immunology and Immunopathology, 1987
Treatment of rats with intravenous injection of 1 mg of soluble native type II collagen induced resistance against the subsequent induction of active arthritis by type II collagen immunization. This resistant state was accompanied by suppressed antibody response and delayed-type hypersensitivity (DTH) skin reaction to type II collagen.

The role of Fibronectin in the pathogenesis of antigen‐induced arthritis in the rabbit

The Journal of Pathology, 1983
AbstractFibronectin (FN), a high molecular weight glycoprotein, is present in plasma and is a normal structural component of the synovium in the rabbit, as it is in man. FN is also involved in the sequence of changes seen in synovium in experimental antigen‐induced arthritis. Its widespread distribution in inflamed synovia in the initial acute phase of

Serotonin in an antigen-induced arthritis of the rabbit temporomandibular joint

Archives of Oral Biology, 1999
The aim was to investigate the joint perfusate concentration of serotonin (5-HT) in antigen-induced monoarthritis of the rabbit temporomandibular joint (TMJ) and knee joint. Thirty adult male New Zealand White rabbits, of whom eight were first used as healthy controls, were divided into TMJ and knee arthritis groups.

Effects of ibandronate on inflammation in mouse antigen-induced arthritis

Inflammation Research, 2003
To investigate the effects of ibandronate, a novel aminobisphosphonate, on inflammation as well as leukocyte-endothelial cell interaction in mouse antigen-induced arthritis (AiA).36 Balb/c mice were subcutaneously injected with 160 microg/kg of ibandronate once per day beginning at day 7 until day 13 after induction of AiA.The severity of arthritis was
