Innate Immune Activation Is a Strong Suppressor of CCL22 and Impedes Regulatory T Cell–Dendritic Cell Interaction

open access: yesImmunology, EarlyView.
During homeostasis, CCL22 is secreted by dendritic cells (DC), which mediate contacts between regulatory T cells (Treg) and DC to maintain immune balance. Activation of innate immunity via microbes or pattern recognition receptor (PRR) agonists induces the secretion of several soluble factors (e.g., type I and II interferons, IL‐10), which mediate ...

Preserved B Cell Function in CD23‐Cre Transgenic Mice Allows Reliable Flox‐Only Controls in Mouse Models

open access: yesImmunology, EarlyView.
Expression of CD23‐Cre does not impair the function of mature B cells or the establishment of the humoral immune response. Therefore, Flox‐only mice are suitable controls in studies using a CD23‐Cre mouse model. This reduces the number of surplus animals generated and supports the 3Rs principle in animal research.

TIM‐3 Functions as an Activator of NK Cells in GBM and Can Be Upregulated by Torin‐1: Implications for Exogenous NK Cell Transplantation

open access: yesImmunology, EarlyView.
Unlike generalized mTOR inhibitors, Torin‐1 uniquely drives compensatory upregulation of TIM‐3 on human NK cells, shielding them from immunosuppression while concurrently inhibiting glioblastoma (GBM) growth. Selecting or preconditioning ex vivo NK cell products for high TIM‐3 expression can offer a combination strategy for adoptive cell therapy in GBM.

Cell Therapy for Periodontal, Soft‐Tissue, and Craniofacial Regeneration

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
The clinical translation of mesenchymal stem/stromal cells (MSCs) represents a major advancement in dentistry, especially for periodontal, soft‐tissue, and craniofacial regeneration. However, several challenges remain to be addressed, including the absence of standardised protocols, limited scalability, regulatory hurdles, a lack of well‐controlled ...

Stem Cells From Dental Pulp, Periodontal Tissues, and Other Oral Sources: Biological Concepts and Regenerative Potential

open access: yesJournal of Periodontal Research, EarlyView.
A graphical abstract recapping the different sources of dental, periodontal, and other oral‐derived mesenchymal stromal cells (MSCs) and their regenerative mechanisms and potentials. The review's article findings bridge fundamental biological science with translational advances, highlighting the significance of MSCs in craniofacial regenerative ...
