OCTN2 Activates a Non‐Canonical Carnitine Metabolic Pathway to Promote MASH‐HCC Progression and Immunotherapy Resistance

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In non‐MASH‐HCC, L‐carnitine promotes tumor progression primarily through its classical role in enhancing fatty acid oxidation (FAO). However, in MASH‐HCC, where FAO is markedly suppressed, L‐carnitine shifts from this canonical function to serve instead as an intracellular acetyl group buffer.

Distinct Immunological Landscapes of HCMV-Specific T Cells in Bone Marrow and Peripheral Blood

open access: yesPathogens
Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) establishes lifelong latency in the host, with the bone marrow (BM) CD34+ cells serving as a key reservoir. To investigate tissue-specific immune responses to CMV, we analysed paired peripheral blood mononuclear cells (PBMCs)

miR-494-3p overexpression promotes megakaryocytopoiesis in primary myelofibrosis hematopoietic stem/progenitor cells by targeting SOCS6 [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Primary myelofibrosis (PMF) is a chronic Philadelphia-negative myeloproliferative neoplasm characterized by hematopoietic stem cell-derived clonal myeloproliferation, involving especially the megakaryocyte lineage.

Structure of the gene encoding CD34, a human hematopoietic stem cell antigen

open access: yesGenomics, 1992
CD34 is a cell surface antigen of unknown function expressed in humans in hematopoietic stem cells, vascular endothelium, and blasts from 30% of patients with acute myeloid and lymphocytic leukemia. To begin to investigate the cis-acting elements required for this tissue-specific expression, the human CD34 locus was isolated and its genomic structure ...

Osteoclast‐Derived SLIT3 Mediates Osteoarthritis Pain and Degenerative Changes

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
In TMJ‐OA, osteoclasts play a significant role in promoting the growth of sensory nerves at the osteochondral interface. In early OA, TRAP+ osteoclast‐derived SLIT3 induces sensory nerve growth into the condylar cartilage. This nerve growth facilitates the development of pain associated with OA.

Engineered Small Extracellular Vesicles Targeting Tumor‐Associated Endothelial Cells to Effectively Remodel the Glioma Microenvironment

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
This study developed a novel drug delivery platform that overcomes the blood‐brain barrier in glioblastoma. By fusing IGFBP7 with small extracellular vesicles, the platform specifically targets tumor vasculature. It effectively delivers temozolomide, suppressing tumor growth at low doses.

Rh antigen expression during erythropoeisis: Comparison of cord and adult derived CD34 + cells

open access: yesAsian Journal of Transfusion Science, 2008
Concentrations of O(2) and CO(2) in the fetal circulation differ to that in maternal blood. Previous studies done in algae demonstrate the functional role of Rh antigen as CO(2) transporter. As a preliminary study, it was the aim of this project to compare the expression of Rh polypeptides on cord and adult red blood cell progenitors during ex vivo ...

Identification of a Force‐Induced Sox9+Acan+ Transitional Subpopulation Linked to FGF2–FGFR2–ERK Signaling in Orthodontic Bone Remodeling

open access: yesAdvanced Science, EarlyView.
Mechanical loading induces a previously unrecognized Sox9+Acan+ transitional mesenchymal cell population in the periodontal ligament that promotes osteoclastogenesis via the FGF2–FGFR2–ERK axis. Targeting this mechanoresponsive stromal population using a localized GelMA@siRNA delivery strategy attenuates pathological osteoclast overactivation and root ...

Lewis X antigen mediates adhesion of human breast carcinoma cells to activated endothelium. Possible involvement of the endothelial scavenger receptor C-Type lectin [PDF]

open access: yes, 2007
Lewis x (Lex, CD15), also known as SSEA-1 (stage specific embryonic antigen-1), is a trisaccharide with the structure Galβ(1–4)Fucα(1–3)GlcNAc, which is expressed on glycoconjugates in human polymorphonuclear granulocytes and various tumors such as colon
