Subversion of Atypical Mucin Traps by a Spore‐Coat Effector Blocks Cellular Immunity in Drosophila
While the entomopathogenic fungus Metarhizium robertsii can evade insect humoral immunity, its subversion of cellular defenses is still elusive. We identify Eac1 as a spore‐coat protein essential for infecting drosophilids by targeting atypical mucins (Sgf1 and Sgf2), which can entrap spores in a gel matrix and thereby facilitate hemocyte encapsulation.

Novel Pneumocystis Antigen Discovery Using Fungal Surface Proteomics [PDF]
ABSTRACT Pneumonia due to the fungus Pneumocystis jirovecii is a life-threatening infection that occurs in immunocompromised patients. The inability to culture the organism as well as the lack of an annotated genome has hindered antigen discovery that could be useful in developing novel vaccine- or ...

This work identified CPD3a as a potent, stable C‐nucleoside cordycepin derivative. When formulated into microneedle array for topical treatment, it ameliorated psoriasis by rebalancing immunity and enhancing antioxidant defenses. ABSTRACT Psoriasis is a chronic inflammatory disorder characterized by immune dysregulation and epidermal hyperplasia ...

[Experimental reactivity and antigenic activity of the bacterial-fungal antigen complexes].
The immunogenic and reactogenic properties of monovaccines prepared from Staphylococcus aureus, S. epidermidis and Candida albicans, as well as those of a associated polyvaccine prepared from these infective agents, were experimentally studied on rabbits.

Engineered macrophages programmed in situ by LNP‐delivered IL‐6/4 fusion and LL37 mRNAs simultaneously dampen cytokine storm, promote M2‐like repair, and enhance direct bacterial killing in sepsis. This combinatorial strategy restores T cell and macrophage function, lowers organ bacterial burden, and improves survival, highlighting a precision, host ...

A Model Vaccine Exploiting Fungal Mannosylation to Increase Antigen Immunogenicity [PDF]
Abstract Ag mannosylation represents a promising strategy to augment vaccine immunogenicity by targeting Ag to mannose receptors (MRs) on dendritic cells. Because fungi naturally mannosylate proteins, we hypothesized that Ags engineered in fungi would have an enhanced capacity to stimulate T cell responses.

Using Synthetic Glycans to Investigate Anti‐Glycan Antibodies and Explore Their Medical Potential
Anti‐glycan antibodies are essential in health and disease. Access to novel glycan structures paves the way for progress in antibody profiling for biomarker discovery, antibody development, and vaccine design. We summarize the strategies to synthesize and utilize synthetic glycans for the development and application of anti‐glycan antibodies in basic ...
