Neutralization of Diverse Human Cytomegalovirus Strains Conferred by Antibodies Targeting Viral gH/gL/pUL128-131 Pentameric Complex [PDF]

open access: yes, 2017
Human cytomegalovirus (HCMV) is the leading cause of congenital viral infection, and developing a prophylactic vaccine is of high priority to public health.

Influenza viral neuraminidase: the forgotten antigen

open access: yesExpert Review of Vaccines, 2011
Influenza is the most common cause of vaccine-preventable morbidity and mortality despite the availability of the conventional trivalent inactivated vaccine and the live-attenuated influenza vaccine. These vaccines induce an immunity dominated by the response to hemagglutinin (HA) and are most effective when there is sufficient antigenic relatedness ...

CD9‐association with PIP2 areas is regulated by a CD9 salt bridge

open access: yesFEBS Open Bio, EarlyView.
The tetraspanin CD9 has an intracellular salt bridge. If CD9 opens, open‐CD9 moves from PIP2‐rich areas to regions populated by its interaction partner EWI‐2. Hence, the state of the salt bridge regulates the distribution of CD9 and by this CD9‐EWI‐2 complex formation.

Strategies to induce broadly protective antibody responses to viral glycoproteins

open access: yesExpert Review of Vaccines, 2017
Introduction: Currently, several universal/broadly protective influenza virus vaccine candidates are under development. Many of these vaccines are based on strategies to induce protective antibody responses against the surface glycoproteins of ...

The enzymes LSD1 and Set1A cooperate with the viral protein HBx to establish an active hepatitis B viral chromatin state [PDF]

open access: yes, 2016
Indexación: Web of ScienceWith about 350 million people chronically infected around the world hepatitis B is a major health problem. Template for progeny HBV synthesis is the viral genome, organized as a minichromosome (cccDNA) inside the hepatocyte ...

Relevance of Kappa and Lambda Free Light Chains in Autoimmune Astrocytopathy Associated With Anti‐GFAP Antibodies

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Introduction The kappa‐free light chain (κ‐FLC) index is known to be highly sensitive and specific for diagnosing multiple sclerosis (MS), while little is understood about lambda (λ)‐FLC. This study assessed the κ‐FLC and λ‐FLC indices in autoimmune glial fibrillary acidic protein (GFAP) astrocytopathy.

Concentration of Complement Fixing Viral Antigens.

open access: yesExperimental Biology and Medicine, 1966
SummaryComplement fixing antigens produced in cell culture by a variety of viruses were concentrated by slow speed sedimentation of undisrupted virus infected cells and removal of the supernatant medium. In most cases, concentration of virus infectivity was demonstrated as well.

Glial Fibrillary Acidic Protein Astrocytopathy Based on a Two‐Center Chinese Cohort Study

open access: yesAnnals of Clinical and Translational Neurology, EarlyView.
ABSTRACT Objective Glial fibrillary acidic protein astrocytopathy (GFAP‐A) is a recently defined nosological form belonging to the class of autoimmune inflammatory disorders affecting the central nervous system (CNS). Here, we report the clinical and MRI characteristics, treatment, and prognosis of a GFAP‐A cohort from two centers in China.

Transition between immune and disease states in a cellular automaton model of clonal immune response

open access: yes, 1997
In this paper we extend the Celada-Seiden (CS) model of the humoral immune response to include infectious virus and cytotoxic T lymphocytes (cellular response).

Migratory dendritic cells acquire and present lymphatic endothelial cell-archived antigens during lymph node contraction

open access: yesNature Communications, 2017
Antigens derived from viral infection or vaccination can persist within a host for many weeks after resolution of the infection or vaccine responses. We previously identified lymphatic endothelial cells (LEC) as the repository for this antigen archival ...
