This study unveils a novel antibacterial mechanism against MRSA, in which the compound Py‐27 selectively targets and inhibits aspartate transcarbamoylase (ATCase), a key enzyme in pyrimidine synthesis. This inhibition disrupts DNA replication, induces oxidative damage, leading to potent bactericidal activity.

Modulating Calcium Homeostasis via a Biomimetic Scaffold to Rescue Diabetic Ischemic Wounds
This strategy addresses impaired microcirculation and loss of extracellular matrix (ECM) guidance in diabetic wound healing. Musc@CP, a nanofibrous dressing combining an ECM‐mimetic chitosan‐pullulan scaffold with muscone, enhances perfusion by attenuating intracellular Ca2+ overload‐associated endothelial dysfunction.

C13 | Prototype antimicrobial peptide-based sanitiser: new horizons in the post-antibiotic era
Purpose. The aim of this study was to develop a prototype of an environmentally friendly, effective and sustainable antimicrobial peptide-based disinfectant designed to reduce the persistence of pathogenic and spoilage bacteria throughout the dairy ...

Corramycin, a myxobacterial natural product antibiotic, exhibits potent bactericidal activity against multidrug‐resistant Mycobacterium tuberculosis. The compound hijacks bacterial transporters such as BacA and OppABCD to enter the cell and inhibits DNA synthesis through a previously unrecognized mode of DNA gyrase poisoning, locking the enzyme in an ...

LL-37 is a broad-spectrum human antimicrobial peptide in the cathelicidin family. Potency assays in the form of minimal inhibitory concentration and vesicle leakage indicate that the single-tryptophan mutants, F6W and F17W, are as effective at killing ...

Human Chemokines as Antimicrobial Peptides with Direct Parasiticidal Effect on Leishmania mexicana In Vitro [PDF]
Chemokines and chemokine receptor-mediated effects are important mediators of the immunological response and cure in human leishmaniasis. However, in addition to their signalling properties for leukocytes, many chemokines have also been shown to act ...

Using a minimal set of experimentally labeled antimicrobial and non‐antimicrobial peptides, we reconstruct the effective lipid composition of a pathogenic membrane ‐demonstrated at the example of bacterial membranes‐ through a physics‐based evolutionary molecular dynamics (Evo‐MD) approach. Optimization based on peptide insertion reveals broad‐spectrum

Unveiling the Taxonomic Diversity and Unprecedented Biosynthetic Treasure of the Phylum Myxococcota
Natural products remain vital sources of therapeutics, and the phylum Myxococcota constitutes an especially rich reservoir for them. Based on decades of microbiological efforts, we present 154 new Myxococcota genomes and revise taxonomy quadrupling the number of families and genera.
