Antioxidant Activity of Capsinoids
Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2002Hot peppers are a good source of dietary antioxidants, encompassing, apart from widespread compounds (flavonoids, phenolic acids, carotenoids, vitamin A, ascorbic acid, tocopherols), also specific constituents such as the pungent capsaicinoids (capsaicin, dihydrocapsaicin, and related analogues).

Antioxidant activity of propylthiouracil
Free Radical Biology and Medicine, 1990Propylthiouracil (PTU) has been demonstrated to reduce alcohol-induced hepatocyte damage and severe alcoholic liver disease. Although the mechanism by which the drug operates is yet to be elucidated, there is evidence that PTU may act as an antioxidant.

Antioxidant Activity of Grains
Journal of Agricultural and Food Chemistry, 2002Epidemiological studies have shown that consumption of whole grains and grain-based products is associated with reduced risk of chronic diseases. The health benefits of whole grains are attributed in part to their unique phytochemical composition. However, the phytochemical contents in grains have been commonly underestimated in the literature, because

Antioxidant activity of carotenoids
Molecular Aspects of Medicine, 2003Carotenoids are pigments which play a major role in the protection of plants against photooxidative processes. They are efficient antioxidants scavenging singlet molecular oxygen and peroxyl radicals. In the human organism, carotenoids are part of the antioxidant defense system.

Mucolytics and antioxidant activity
Life Sciences, 1999We investigated effects of the mucolytics ambroxol and N-acetylcysteine on airways reactivity evoked by histamine in guinea pigs exposed to toluene vapors. We did not find significant changes in reactivity of tracheal smooth muscle from animals treated with mucolytics compared to the control group.

Antioxidant Activity of Diethyldithiocarbamate
Free Radical Research, 1996Diethyldithiocarbamate (DDC), a potent copper chelating agent, has long been used for the treatment of oxygen toxicity to the central nervous system, as an immunomodulator to treat cancer, and in HIV-infected patients. We evaluated the antioxidant properties of DDC, including its scavenging of reactive oxygen species, its reducing properties, its iron ...

Antioxidant activity of curcuminoids
Physical Chemistry Chemical Physics, 2019The antioxidant activity of the keto and enol forms of curcuminoids isolated from the roots of Curcuma longa is directly related to CH3O⋯H–O and NOT to CO⋯H–O hydrogen bonds.
